Just so you know, the strike-through style doesn't show through RSS, and I may have had slight heart-attack seeing Korn in that headline.
This almost fits perfectly with the tune. I am currently mesmerized. Good work.
I really love that Eddie is still working at his 'Tambourines for Everyone' project. Such a worthy cause.
They're in such a better mood than they were last time they were here. It was a couple of years ago for the same festival, and when I saw them in Perth (the last stop on the tour) Win said something along the lines of "This is probably the last festival we'll ever play". I guess lugging a pipe-organ around Australia and playing directly into the sun at 2pm really got to them. So glad they came back, just wish it was on their own tour. Still, I'm effectively seeing Arcade Fire open for Pearl Jam on Sunday, so I'm pretty happy with that.
Fingers crossed Rick McCullom is still in the mix. He was absent during the SxSW and Subpop shows, and is nowhere to be seen on Dulli's instagraming of the recording sessions. While I'm super excited to have anything new with the words "Afghan Whigs" on the cover, it'll be bittersweet if Rick isn't around anymore. He's such a core part of their sound.
Not sure if this is against Stereogum's rules, but check out hola.org. You might find that helpful
This is ridiculous! Terms of service should never apply to someone like Wayne. If he wants to post nudity where it's strictly forbidden, or bring a grenade into an airport he should be able to! He's an artist! Why should the same rules apply to him as everyone else? Wait, I think I got that around the wrong way. Can we suggest Wayne should go to prison, or is that the other 'Gum?
It's really good to see Charlie Wilson bounce back after that whole trouble with the rebels in Afghanistan and the Soviets. I know the impact was pretty huge in the scheme of things, but dude was just trying to help those brothers out. Say what you want about Kanye, I think it's a pretty bold move bringing him on tour. No hard feelings and all that.
Missed opportunity Trent. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_O1hM-k3aUY (Seriously though, this is pretty good. I am becoming more comfortable with the fact that we're never going to get Downward Spiral 2/Fragile: The Revenge, and Trent is more interested in creating albums of songs, a-la Pretty Hate Machine)
I think everyone's ignoring the biggest crime here. So far I've yet to come across a music blog to use the headline - "Sufjan savages Savages sleeve". What a missed opportunity.
They were playing this one towards the end of their live set on the last tour to Australia. It was an awesome contrast to the stuff of Valtari, which I found to be a little too sleepy. Can't wait to hear more.
There were many brains melting over in the Afghan Whigs community as this was streaming.
You think that's bad? Did anyone see the Surface when it was featured on Suburgotary? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rH21WrjXBBw It was... not good.
I wonder if it was to do with the mix? The guitar sounds really soft compared to how it does on record and at their shows. If he'd gone full pelt, he might've drowned it out.
Needs more Afghan Whigs. A run of awesome live shows, and an amazing cover of LoveCrimes made for an amazing year from them.
I'm confused. Did they run out of money for the animated section, or the live action segment. I don't understand why it needed both. Still, nice idea, and it's good to hear the Killers sway away from Disco and back to Springsteen.
Just got back from the show in Perth (Western Australia) and this was played in the encore. Definitely a highlight of the set.
huh... huh... huh huh... you said 'in-her'... huh...
Magical. It's so amazing to have them back, finally. Enjoy the tour American people!
