I actually thought that this episode was really self-aware and hilarious! Keep up the funny stuff! The whole preacher's wife sexy dancing with BBQ? Great. And I think the "hot beef injection" joke was PERFECT because that is EXACTLY what a random guy on a church retreat would say. Whoever wrote this episode knows what True Blood should be: silly.
Don't diss Mary Kay Letourneau
I have Mean Girls on Blu Ray. Does that make me a Pumba look-alike with lazy eyes too close together?
I love how Danielle's kids are just standing around in the background completely not phased by the entire spectacle. Have they seen it all before? Do they think it's funny? Do they realize how fake and scripted it is?
My favorite: In France, "Not Another Teen Movie" became "Not Another Stupid American Movie." So true.
Lindsay's Editors choice is truly amazing! I took me a few reads to fully understand it.
I just found out that Dr. Shana graduated from the same Social Work grad program I'm starting in the fall. She is officially my new idol!
I had to google Christine like "ugh, Graham is making obscure references!" but then I realized it was ROJO CALIENTE!
I'll admit that I watched every minute of this show, and loved it. Every time Heidi says something completely idiotic it makes me feel like the world is at ease.
I made my dad watch The Hills too and he liked it!!! I think it's just sort of fascinating in how insane people can be. He said they should show it for psychology classes (he is a Psychiatrist).
Your choices show an extremely remedial understanding of today's teen actors. At least you can admit you have a problem. While I do love the original, maybe a remake could end up kind of fun? Or am I kidding myself?
100th episode? Is that a joke I'm missing? I think Tina Fey's incredibly quick "DEALBREAKER" rants were the real highlight of the episode. She soooo needs a daytime talkshow. Move over Tyra...
Can we talk about how True Blood advertises on this site? Is your love-hatred of this show part of its "viral marketing?" Are you a mole from HBO? Is Videogum one giant(?) viral marketing gimmick?
Amazing Miss California comment.
The sketch where she was the little girl in the music store was great too. Amy is best when silly!
Lindsay, this laugh track conversation reminded me of the British show "The I.T. Crowd" that I have been watching that I think uses laugh tracks pretty well. I don't know if you haven't seen these shows from the UK (The I.T. Crowd, Peep Show), or what, but I'm feeling like a commentary is mandatory! They are SO good!
Effie from Skins is in it too! Skins! Skins!
MEAN GIRLS WAS THAT GOOD! IT ONLY GETS BETTER WITH AGE!
Clueless Welcome to the Dollhouse
Lindsay, Lindsay, Lindsay! Why! Definitely not better than Role Models, which gets better every time I see it (especially after watching RM twice this past weekend before going to see I Love You, Man). It reeked of Wedding Crashers runoff. Not nearly as good as Forgetting Sarah Marshall or even any Apatow movie really. Did you see that one of the writers also wrote DOCTOR DOLITTLE 2!! Andy Samberg as a "gay guy who can nail straight guys" was almost offensive, but mostly just unbelievable, dumb, and half-assed. I Love You, Man was the most disappointing trip to the movies in a while.....and I saw Watchmen......
This episode was particularly boring, and the month-long hiatus didn't help. Gabe, do you actually think it's sooo horrible for a 23 year old girl to have sex with an 18 year old boy? Yes yes, teacher and all that, but...really?
blah blah blah garden state blah blah blah squid and the whale blah blah blah wes anderson blah blah blah me and you and everyone we know blah blah blah sunshine but I'm probably gonna see it anyway, so I can have an opinion
Is anyone else kind of genuinely sad about this :(
Did you get this LuAnn blog tip from my comment on the last recap?
Is it bad that I want to see the video?
Gabe, please tell me you have seen LuAnn's BLOG on her website. She responds to all the "haters," and says some new horrible things. There is one post that starts with: "Who doesn't love the Obamas?" *cringe* http://www.classwiththecountess.com/blog.htm
That commercial is the most shameless pandering to the "youth"-ish demographic I have ever seen. And it really unsuccessfully tries to jump on the isometric pixel art bandwagon. So much :(
Hosea is the worst. The End.
What did they say at the end? Was that ET or a black baby? **SO CONFUSED** I need subtitles.
Did anyone else think it was inappropriate for Hosea to make a Hurricane in New Orleans? Or does Katrina make a Hurricane "more appropriate". Am I missing something? Also, it's at the Dilido hotel, not the Dildo. But when it flashes on the screen quickly it looks like "Dildo," yes.
THANK YOU for admitting that American Teen was shallow. That movie was a really uninteresting MTV True Life. I do not understand for the life of me how people thought it was good in any way. Remember "Paris is Burning," Errol Morris, and Herzog? That is documentary. American Teen truly saddened me.
