What about the "unique" swim coach?? I thought that sketch was awesome. And Bedilia--God, she's cute. The first one was better, though.
You're so right, and this hadn't occurred to me before. Just watch the goofy, smitten grins of the dudes on stage behind Betty White during her SNL monologue. For whatever variety of reasons, people genuinely adore her. And that is completely the opposite of how we treat most 88 and a half year old people--like we wish they would just go the fuck away and stop being sick and hard of hearing and making us feel sad.
I think it is unfair to hold a very popular website entirely devoted to commenting on videos posted on the internet and/or recapping TV shows to either a mountain or molehill standard. It is neither, and both, and there is no spoon.
Yeah, I'm rather surprised there are two PEOPLE IN THE WORLD whose favorite recipes are "anything with peas" much less two chefs on the same season of Top Chef.
LOL, Gabe is soooooooo mad that his "Getting Topher Grace to Host the NAACP Image Awards" group only has 3 members.
It's posts like these that remind me why I fell in love with VGum in the first place...
Me too! I know the internet loving Betty White thing is weird and all, but I am all for legitimately lovable people being loved more because of Facebook or whatever. My love of her is long-standing and also unironic. What IS ironic is that the father of the internet's burgeoning Topher Grace interest (and on the real, I think we can agree that TG is no Betty White) is having so much trouble with this!
I'm having trouble understanding why this is pissing everyone off so much. At the very least, it's 95% more interesting than most celebrities' attention-whoring strategies. (Heidi Montag: Ugh, my triple F boobs are so SMALL. I need bigger ones!!!)
Yeah, the grandma episode was good because of the hand slamming.
I sent my husband a video of the Victoria Jackson crazy fest on Hannity, and his favorite part was the promise of a "Larry the Cable Guy" appearance after the commercial break. So, yeah, a whole blog post about how lefties are losing the culture war is pretty much hilarious. Hang your "NOBAMA" hats on something else, guys!
LOL, this happens to me all the time regarding SNL.
Why are you bringing race into it? Can't we just disagree about who was better (and more to the point, whose sketches were better)? I liked January Jones episode more than Gabe and some of you did, but this one killed it, whether Gabourey was occasionally off her game or not. Stefon? "Buzz Buzz...you got a boner about nothin'"...Genius grandma yelling to the boys on the stoop?...weekend update killed overall...CHERRY BATTLE? It was a good episode, IMO. No affirmative action required.
Yeah, if we are going to exclude fat people from show biz because they also need medical help, we are going to have to exclude alcoholics, sex addicts, painkiller addicts, anorexics, bulimics, etc. All of these conditions are unhealthy and might kill you. Or, we could not use personal health as a reason to include or exclude entertainers from entertaining us. We aren't their doctors.
Oh, that post is so wonderful! "...but the truth is that from a values standpoint she is much closer to the Black Eyed Peas than she is Alan Jackson. " Are these really our only choices, morally speaking?
Gabe, just take two Forget Me Nows and call me in the morning. You'll be fine.
I watched this show for awhile and liked it well enough, even though it's definitely not "my thing", with all the singing and the dancing and the teenagers. But then it just started to gross me out in this really indescribable way? It's not moral/political/aesthetic that I can put my finger on. I really don't understand my reaction to it at all, but now these recaps are all I can stand of it. And even they make me feel a bit queeze.
Ahh yes, that venerable old rag, "The Times". Or as I like to call it, the "Fourth Baldwin".
UMMMMMM, did you actually just reference The Box?? I love you. It was the first and only place I ever saw the video for "Put 'Em on the Glass" by Sir Mix-a-lot.
If you find any spare slack, I could use some. One thread of over-dissent and apparently I am out in the cold. Bah.
