Is Thrice - Identity Crisis too metal-ish sounding for this category? second, Would Japandroids be a good current day "classic emo" sounding band?
seriously crying with laughter
So harsh! When songwriters rise to fame by pumping out unique pop tunes, I can understand why most people would be upset that they don't continue to set the pop curve. Still, "studio-rat shit"?!?! We want people to push the boundaries. Putting yourself out on a limb is admirable, whether you fail or succeed. In this case, I definitely don't think they failed. I am intrigued. Yes, they can afford to meander. So did The Beatles. That's how we eventually ended up with Sgt. Pepper's. They were rich assholes indulging themselves in a studio and upped the game for everyone. I don't know where to begin on this one... I saw them at fyf and this is my opinion. they were boring as shit when they played their hits. They probably had played them out of obligation, if anything, because they do care about their fans and played songs that they are personally, mentally over. when they hit on the new songs, they kept the same energy and it fit! the new songs were interesting and their energy didn't seem misplaced. if the album is shit, then its shit. Still I think your judgement is clouded by expectations.
better question: Why is it that when she does pop up on this website, everyone is debating the reasons as to why this site needs to cover her? She writes and sings music. You wanna say whether or not you like it, thats just fine. What I don't get is the need to say, "why am I seeing her face?" The answer is obvious. People apparently give a shit about her music, whether its to praise or bash it. This site is neither above nor beneath her. It's a music site, she makes music.
As much as I agree with what you said, as much of a Morrissey fan I am, and as little as I know about british politics, it's still just irritating to see him go out of his way to make a statement about her after she is dead. It just seems useless and obnoxious. You know how the elderly are obsessed with hating kids skateboarding on the sidewalk? It seems elderly moz has found his equivalent.
how about a modernized marvin gaye + stevie wonder?
Not going for a challenge here, just asking honestly: With all the crazy internets the youth is so into, everyone can hear or discover any artist at any moment. That being said, if everyone has the capability to discover any artist at anytime, can anyone really be proud of themselves for "discovering" someone? why would it be frustrating that someone blows up?
down voted? Maybe I should clarify my lingo: nuts=awesome bad=good cool=hot
seriously. that performance was nuts.
has anyone read that interview with rookie mag? "If more men were homosexual, there would be no wars, because homosexual men would never kill other men" Has he ever heard of Jeff Dahmer?! I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.
"suck my cock" dude you're awesome! you went there! In the locker room is the whole team waiting to kill you with high-fives!
Moz, you gotta relax before you get an.... ulcer......
when I first saw the photo, I thought he was wearing a pearl necklace.
So does any rock band that is successful enough to play a stadium qualify as a stadium rock? Does the title say something negative about the band? I'm confused on that. That aside, its not like Carney went out of his way to make a statement. He was approached by TMZ (paparazzii who always want a scoop). He just answered the guys question, who probably asked him a question to lead to an obvious story. It sounds like, really, Carney was being his unfiltered self and giving his funny opinion. he probably should've let JB's twitter comment alone though...
Seeing as you cared enough to write that, I'm sure you're forgiven.
I think there is a simple answer to this. We really can separate his personal problems from his art. Do you like his songs? Are his songs violent or encouraging of it? These are the only relevant questions when it comes to his music. Lets look at the reality that we know of Pitts situation. The dude locked himself in the bathroom, threatening to hurt himself before he beat up his girlfriend. He clearly has trouble controlling himself. We don't know how much remorse he does or doesn't have. We can never know what really went into his actions. It's also none of our business. If we listen to Nirvana or Elliott Smith, does that mean we are promoting suicide? I don't think so. I also am not a huge fan of surfer blood, but that has little to do with his personal problems.

anyone still dig Michael Jackson? dude was shady too
true as that may be, the joy of listening to music doesn't always have to boil down to some sort of equation. You know as well as I do that some bands you unexplicably like to listen to. Although this understanding of how pop music is manufactured can make you have more respect for an artist, it doesn't explain exactly why you like it or why it gets stuck in your head. what about guilty pleasures? bands that don't have 5/5 ranking that you just love to hear? Thats what Mumford and Sons is for a lot of people; maybe too many people. Still, thats what happens when you hit the Zeitgeist.
