Photos: Burger A-Go-Go Fest 2014

This past weekend, Burger Records held a small festival called Burger A-Go-Go. That name implies a dance-filled occasion, but considering the goofy charm of the label, they’re probably referring to Monster A-Go-Go, one of the most painfully stupid movies ever filmed. Judging from its lineup, though, which includes Dum Dum Girls, the Muffs, and Best… More »

The 5 Best Videos Of The Week

Virtually the entire music-blogging universe (except me) is at CMJ right now, so you’ll have to forgive the indie music universe for neglecting to drop too many videos in the past seven days. I always think it’s funny how things come to a near-complete stop for the assumption that most music writers and publicists are… More »

La Sera – “Break My Heart” Video

In La Sera’s video for “Break My Heart,” a fuzz-popper from her recent Sees The Light album, the artifacts lying around Vivian Girl Katy Goodwin’s room come to life and throw themselves into disarray. Cassandra Lee Hamilton directs, and it all amounts to an incredibly low-stakes Evil Dead sequel. Watch it and download the song… More »

La Sera – “Please Be My Third Eye”

Vivian Girl Katy Goodman is set to release her second LP as La Sera in March, and today she promotes that release with “Please Be My Third Eye,” a breezy, rollicking surf pop jam. No wheels are reinvented, but why do they need to be? Wheels still seem to be doing the job these days. More »

Vivian Girls’ Katy Goodman, aka Kickball Katy, has a new side project — in addition to All Saints Day, her collaboration with Gregg Foreman. La Sera, billed as a solo effort, has the same fuzzy Spector feel of her other work, though it’s smearier and cleaner in an early ’90s SpinART/Slumberland way. Take a liste… More »
