Pillar Point – “Eyeballs” (Stereogum Premiere)

If you know Scott Reitherman, it's probably because you know his indie pop band Throw Me The Statue (a Band To Watch back in 2007), but that is likely to change soon with his new project, Pillar Point. "Eyeballs," an ode to the loneliness of social networking and the first single off PP's upcoming debut, hits every pleasure center you want when it comes to synth pop. Reitherman's gloomy, heart-on-sleeve vocals skip along with the bright hyper-melodic synths that sound like something from a Sega Genesis rejuvenated just in time to ring in 2014. Meanwhile that keyboard sweep hook is almost frustratingly addictive. Listen and check out a trailer for the album below.
