The LA-based solo artist Angel Deradoorian got a major profile boost through her work with Dirty Projectors, but before and after her stint with Dave Longstreth’s crew, she’s developed a sound to call her own. Her forthcoming album, The Expanding Flower Planet, is due out next week, and today The New York Times has presented us with an advance stream. We heard the album’s first three singles — “Komodo,” “The Eye” and “A Beautiful Woman” — which introduced us to the fluid psychedelia of The Expanding Flower Planet. This is an instrumentally busy record, but that business is mediated by Deradoorian’s shape-shifting vocal patterns. Listen to the album in full below.
