Soft Fangs have been steady and stellar on the roll-out for their upcoming LP, The Light. They’ve already shared “Birthday” and “The Air” and “Golden,” and all have been splendid offerings. Their latest share is “The Wilderness” — it’s a chill, depressive excursion with some very rhythmic grooves. The darkness gloomily hangs over the track after the belying Wurlitzer progression is engulfed by heavy drums and commanding acoustic guitar. The melancholy is expressed beautifully through John Lutkevich’s lyrics, including lines like, “Life won’t seem so long when you’re cold and gone.” Slip into the bleakness below.
