Watch Metallica Play The National Anthem Before Stanley Cup Finals Game 4

SAN JOSE, CA – JUNE 06: James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett of Metallica perform the national anthem prior to Game Four of the 2016 NHL Stanley Cup Final between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center on June 6, 2016 in San Jose, California. (Photo by Ezra Shaw/Getty Images)

Last year, Metallica's James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett helped roar the Golden State Warriors, their hometown Bay Area NBA team, on to a national championship when they played the National Anthem before an NBA Finals game. Last night, they attempted to do the same for their NHL team, the San Jose Sharks, who gave Metallica their own night last year. Out on the ice before game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals, Hetfield and Hammett played the National Anthem as a twin-guitar instrumental. Their presence didn't help the Sharks win; they lost the game, going down 3-1 in the Finals to the Pittsburgh Penguins. But it was a pretty badass performance on its own merits, and you can watch it below, via Billboard.

I kind of really like the current Sports Dad incarnation of Metallica.
