M.I.A. – “Go Off” Video

Last night, shortly after announcing the impending release of new album A.I.M., M.I.A. shared the new single “Go Off,” co-produced by Skrillex and Baltimore club trailblazer Blaqstarr. This morning, she’s shared a video for the song. M.I.A. directed the video herself, but she doesn’t appear in it. No humans do. Instead, the video is nothing but footage of a series of underground explosions in the desert, all set off by construction workers. The whole thing has M.I.A.’s watermark covering almost half the screen. Given M.I.A.’s long history of great videos, it’s a bit weird to see her come with something that unengaging, but there is a metaphor about things exploding in the desert at work here. Check it out below.

Here’s the clip that “Go Off” samples:

A.I.M. is out 9/9.
