Amy O – “Rest Stop”

Amy O – “Rest Stop”

Next month, Amy O is releasing her latest album, Shell, the follow-up to 2017’s Elastic. She shared lead single “Planet Blue” from it last month, and today the Bloomington, IN-based musician is putting out another one, “Rest Stop,” which feels a little bit like the yin to that track’s yang, where the first is all barreling momentum and this one is more calm stability. “A lot of things have changed/ A lot of things remain the same,” Amy Oelsner sings here, her voice a sing-song lullaby to the benefits of stasis.

“I wrote “Rest Stop” shortly after my husband and I moved into our new home, and I had left my job of 5 years,” she said of the track. “It’s about when something changes and you’re halfway between the old and the new. I was tired and overwhelmed- but also in love and grateful.”
