Barrie – “Drag”

Barrie – “Drag”

If you haven’t yet heard Barrie’s debut album Happy To Be Here, you really ought to make time for it — that is, if you have a taste for impeccably pretty metropolitan indie-pop that splits the difference between Haim and Belle & Sebastian, performed by people who are fully in sync with each other and produced by the same person who helped Snail Mail’s Lush live up to its name. Their live show is pretty nice, too.

If you’ve already enjoyed all that, and even if you haven’t, I have good news: Barrie are releasing an EP with more where that came from. The quite reasonably titled Happy To Be Here (Ext) brings together two new songs plus alternate versions of album tracks “Clovers” and “Chinatown.” Today we get to hear three of those tunes, the pair of alternates and a shimmering new one called “Drag” that keeps Barrie Lindsay’s hot streak going. Opening number “Human Nature” remains under lock and key for now.
