Hey. it's another shoegaze band! San Diego four-piece Sparkler have been putting out music since 2020, and they're about to follow their 2023 debut Big Sonic Chill with a new album called Glidewinder. They recorded the LP over two busy, experiment-heavy weekends. I don't know their previous work, but Glidewinder lead single "Postal" has a dreamier, more blissful sensibility than what I hear from most of the band's peers. They really do sparkle. It's not just a name.
In the Diego Guardado-directed "Postal" video, the members of Sparkler disguise themselves as mail deliverers to enact a balloon-popping prank that I don't quite understand. Check out the clip and the Glidewinder tracklist below.
