Wednesday at Paris Fashion Week, Balenciaga presented its 55th Couture Collection, the first designed by Pierpaolo Piccioli. The show had a very special soundtrack, a newly recorded performance by the peerless ANOHNI.
In a delightful surprise, the orchestrally backed soundtrack began with ANOHNI's cover of "I Could Fall In Love," the lead single from Tejano pop star Selena's posthumous album Dreaming Of You. It immediately segued into "Perfect Day" by ANOHNI's late collaborator Lou Reed, a tune she's sung before. From there, it was on to three of her own songs: "Miracle Now," "My Lord My Love," and "Hope There's Someone," and eventually the songs start mixing and layering.
