Huh, I really like "It Means I Love You". Like James, I've had it in pretty heavy rotation since first hearing it.

Another small movie moment is in Hanna, where this family sings along to "Kooks" in an RV or something. It's never really brought up, but it's charming. The Life Aquatic and Inglorious Bastards definitely do have some of the best use of Bowie, and I love that Frances Ha scene too.

The Black Eyed Peas's song is more reminiscent of Fallon and Timberlake doing one of their facetious "History of..." videos than a real song. Maybe they were trying to show they have some sort of credibility or bank on the nostalgia and throwback factor that has become more popular. I guess they had some fun with it, but it feels more forced in comparison to Ka's "Off the Record", which is basically another name-dropper track. And it doesn't have any real originality or weirdness of a nostalgia track like Kimbre's "90's music". So yeah, in short, I agree with Tom that it's pretty dumb. I really like YG's new track though. That feels more throwback-y in a way, with it's g-funk vibes.

Nice interview, I've always been curious about the music supervisor roles. Also, whatever happened to Trackspotting?

Hmmm...I could have sworn this was streaming on Spotify since last year, so I thought it was already out. I like the album quite a bit, I've played "You're Brain is Made of Candy" so many times, partly because it's so short.

Yeah, I was going to comment about the same thing. It definitely is HTDW's song in there. While the commercial is decent, it's pretty bad in the sense that it is forgettable and I never remember what it is actually promoting. I've tried to find it, but no luck.

This is one of those groups where a lot of songs are interchangeable in a top 10. Props for some lesser appreciated songs on the list, although I would have liked to see some of my personal faves and bigger hits (just like some posters above noted, it does seem strange to leave out "Can I Kick It?","Check the Rhime", and "Steve Biko"). I haven't seen "We Can Get Down" mentioned yet, I've always liked that one.

Is this going to be a monthly thing then? If so...awesome! - I really liked that moment during Girls too, but mostly just because I really like "Age of Consent". It did fit well with that scene though. - The Her soundtrack is amazing, as well as TWOWS's. - True Detective is phenomenal so far, especially the latest episode. - But I still haven't seen Inside Llewyn Davis, that's been on my to-do list.

As great as "The Wire" is, it is nowhere near my top 10 singles of this year even. Still, good remix here; and good original song as well.

That was one of the first things I noticed too! I think you can get Pocari Sweat at most asian markets/grocery stores. The place closest to me is called Mitsuwa Marketplace, and they sell them.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic about Shabazz Palaces or not. Anyways, I agree with the tom about Drake improving a lot and that the album is really good. I never really liked Drake much either, and although the album is probably one of the better albums of the year (especially in rap/hip hop) I personally don't like it as much as most people have. I like Black Up better than this, but Take Care is impressive. I think some people may rave about it too much, but it is unfortunate that some people won't even give this album a chance and actual try appreciate it. I also really enjoyed that interview with Drake posted a couple of days ago. IMO, it showed Drake in a different light and more than just a successful rapper who can seem annoying on the surface.
