my series of lists of production and songwriters is going to be stupid silly by the time we get to the 2010s.
I saw one #1 song in 2016 with 9! songwriters credited. NINE?? and four producers.
this ties into your comment SrCarto
PRODUCTION CREDITS FOR TODAY’S #1
“Everytime You Go Away”
Songwriters: Daryl Hall (7th as a Songwriter. Just the 2nd as the only songwriter: “Rich Girl”)
Producers: Laurie Latham (His 1st)
Label: Columbia
((Select Personnel))
John Turnbull – Electric Sitar and Classical Guitar (1st)
Pino Palladino - Fretless Bass (1st)
If you are a Rock Guitar Hero, eventually you’re going to use Pino as your bassist.
I mean, Pete Townshend called and hired Pino the night after John Entwistle died to fill in for the Who’s Tour!
Pino has been hired by David Gilmour, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, John Mayer, BB King, Keith Urban.
He’s been playing so long, and YET he ain’t done. In fact, he played on a #1 this non-virtual year of 2020.
How many people playing on a #1 from 1985 can say they played on a #1 in 2020?
He’s listed as the first “Bass Players You Should Know” on this YouTube Series:

He was a little pompous. (a lot). Though he may have the right to be
Dream of the Blue Turtles is a terrific album though Russians proves that celebrities know dick about foreign affairs.
Phil is not the best looking guy up close yet all his albums are the same variation of the close up.
Genesis on the other hand never shows any of the band members on the front.
with 7 in 1964 alone you’d think capitol would’ve had others in the early part of the 60s. guess not.
capitol and motown will be vying for supremacy starting 1965-1970 I’d think. right?
Phil loves his Earth Wind and Fire horns for his solo stuff (and one brilliant Genesis song. “ Turn It On Again”. For a professional and excellent drummer, He does the drum machine a lot.
PRODUCTION CREDITS FOR TODAY’S #1
“Sussudio”
Songwriters: Phil Collins (3rd)
Producers: Phil Collins (2nd), Hugh Padgham (3rd)
Label: Atlantic
((Select Personnel))
Daryl Stuermer – guitar (2nd #1)
Don Myrick – saxophone (2nd #1)
David Frank - Synthesizers and Moog Bass. David Frank is an interesting person. He’ll be involved in several various #1s as either an instrumentalist or as a songwriter. Some of his non-#1s I’ll mention he appeared on: Chaka Khan’s “I Feel for You”, Mtume’s “Juicy Fruit” and the theme song to the “Coming To America” movie;
David along with his friend, Mic Murphy formed the group, “The System” which had a big R&B hit: “Don’t Disturb This Groove”…
you’ll know this song AS SOON as you hear the chorus (I’ve queued it up for you)

I saw Amy Grant and Vince Gills Christmas show at the Ryman.
I have to say it was one of the most emotional and joyful concert experiences I’ve ever had and I’m not Christian.
Yeah Randy is pretty good as a bassist. Also he did his job on American Idol with Paula and Simon. It was a great chemistry. They’ve discovered they can’t quite find that chemistry elsewhere.
Speaking of “...in Heaven...”
Today would have been John Lennon‘s 80th Birthday.
To celebrate his son, Sean Ono Lennon did a few interviews with his brother Julian (who just had a breakout years in virtual 1984 and 1985), his godfather Elton John and of course, Paul McCartney.
Besides listening to John’s incredible music this weekend (as long as it’s not the song “Imagine” ugh) you may want to listen to these interviews. Or you can find it on the BBC website.

Damn Mr Plow. Why did I think AXEL F went to number one? It went to number one on the dance charts but just number 3 on the billboard. I humbly stand corrected. :)
Honestly, I wanted to show a live version but the only live video with the Revolution from that era learnt very good. So I went with Mr McGee’s official version. :)
