Can you name another song where Matt sings quite like this? It's subtle, but he's doing new things wit his vocal delivery here, a bit like Sam Beam's voice on "Glad Man Singing" and other tracks from "Kiss Each Other Clean" is a quiet evolution from everything before.

Very cool. Thanks a lot! I had no idea Rogue One was using Ultra Panavision lens. I'll be interested in seeing the digital results, particularly since I was lucky enough to get the chance to see The Hateful Eight in 70mm.

Minor but possibly worth noting: Pitchfork now incorporates the Rolling Stone info in their piece. The two don'c contradict each other, the Rolling Stone simply specifying the projects are separate (whereas the Pitchfork source *hints* at something happening this weekend without specifying whether it's related/unrelated to this).

Is it product placement if it's vaguely menacing and ends with ad copy in auto-tuned German though?

I wonder if it's actual auto-tuned voiceover taken from a real ad? Or if it's taking real text from ads? I sort of think the track might be brilliant whatever it is. It's menacing.

Any A/V people here who know what the ratio of the video is? It's crazy wide. It'd be cool to shoot a feature film with such a wide ratio. Like, this is wider than 70mm stuff, right?

I know it's first-world problem but I can't stand the fact that Apple won't even let you _purchase_ their exclusives. Like: "I will pay money for this but I don't want to subscribe to Apple music." Why can't they just be like: "Okay, fine. Give us your money, you plebe."

"The other site." I like that. It's like saying "the other woman" or "the other man" when referring to the person your partner's cheating on you with.

You're right. Specifically, it has a little bit of a Views sound/vibe to it. Hopefully it's not the bloated bore that album (mostly) is.

Are you talking about the music or the lyrics? All your comment does is reference one Wilco song and one Wilco album, so it's impossible to tell. Admittedly my comment could be clearer but (assuming you're talking about the lyric thing), I didn't meant (and did not state) that the "The Whole Love" was the *first* instance of nonsensical tweedy lyrics. I meant to imply that the trend, on that album, veered toward nonsensical lyrics (in a way, I think, that their other albums do not). "I Am Trying to Break Your Heart" is an obvious of nonsensical lyrics. I merely meant that, in terms of proportion, "The Whole Love" seems to have the most nonsensical lyrics within a single album. What other song on "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" has nonsensical lyrics? I'm sure you can make a case for another song or two, but they seem pretty cogent to me overall. ("Summerteeth" happens to be one of my favorites, but there's too many damn tracks on that album so i'm not going to go song by song and mark each track as 'nonsensical' or 'nonsensical.') Anyway, thanks for your reply. I live on condescension and I was running a little low at the moment.

Some lovely vocal effects (and organ?) on "If Ever I Was a Child." This does sound like a softer take on Wilco. Also, it seems they've gone away from the nonsensical lyrics of "The Whole Love" which is good in my book. Tweedy, at his best, is one of the greats. And he's pretty good when he's just decent, too. But Tweedy not trying - it's just a sad sight.

I mean, the beat is pretty standard Justice, but the ethereal vocals really give it a different vibe, at least different from anything on "Cross." (Have to admit I really didn't give "Audio, Video, Disco" much attention.)

Bravo. While I haven't listened to the whole thing yet (I didn't realize it was streaming at NPR) everything released thus far (which is quite a bit) has been golden. I mean the analysis is off right from the title track: did "Meat is Murder" ever get insidiously stuck in your head the way the title track does? It certainly never did for me, and the insidiousness is part of the brilliance - "World peace is none of your business" running through your head like a mantra. Moz's controversies and tour cancellations are passé at this point, but his music isn't.
