More like Snickers Halloween Grocery Store Lady. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgSv1SKCteQ
You are not alone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1_oX5AccXk
I had the same problem. But I found this, which I assume is the same video: http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/81100201/
The cover story on the village voice this week is about The Gathering. However, I was more interested in something on page 23: http://www.villagevoice.com/events/videogum-and-147-back-to-schooland-148-comedy-show-and-party-2040889/
Ricky's blog (http://www.rickygervais.com/thissideofthetruth.php) has directed us to the actual half hour preview show. Rejoice! Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUTH1coLIWE and part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TChZa-GfAtA
Half-hour? I'm only getting a 5 minute clip. Don't tease me, Gabe! Also, Karl doesn't hate all travel, as long as if it involves throwing sand at crabs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgHyg38jg6g
dunebug2.0, where are you? We need your pilkydance gif, stat. Pilkie's Makin Music! http://www.gifsoup.com/view/509633/pilkydance-o.gif
Prisencolinensinainciusol!
I bet the monsters could come up with an incredible thread of interesting wikipedia links. Here's my contribution: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hardest_Logic_Puzzle_Ever
And while we're on the topic of video games, this is a couple of years old but it is still the best. Especially "It's Fucking Checkers": http://mightygodking.com/index.php/2008/04/21/fun-from-yesterday/
Gabe, I know you learned about the Konami code by way of your grandchildren, but that's still no excuse for screwing it up. It begins with "up-up-down-down," not "up-down-up-down."
Wait, what? Paul Rudd went to high school in the Kanas City area, while Joe Buck went to MICDS in St. Louis. Also, that Cardinals game last night was the worst. #imfromstlouisgum
agreed, dunebug2.0. And you are honestly the second best thing ever for leading us to that clip. Long live Pilkipedia.
Oh, and here's the audio for you. The stuff of interest starts around the 1:20 mark: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1JA4FTYMmA
It's been done: http://www.pilkipedia.co.uk/wiki/index.php?title=Karl_Reads_the_Edinburgh_Phonebook
I completely understand where you're coming from. I guess we just disagree as to how much the cartoons add. Ricky himself summed up the show rather well on his blog last month: "It is the audio from the podcasts and audiobooks of the same name, but animated. Do not download it if you don't want to hear the same record-breaking audio but with retro animation. If you're asking me, I think the animation is great and makes the pointless conversations funnier, but this is just my opinion. If you don't want to experience the same audio but with funny animation over the top of it, do not watch The Ricky Gervais Show. That would be mental. Just like you would never go to see a Shakespeare play if you'd read the script just to hear the same words but with something to watch too. Madness."
Also, I implore anyone who disapproves of the HBO show to check out the sex machine clip (thank you, Paul The Party Animal Parker): http://www.hbo.com/the-ricky-gervais-show/episodes/1/02-episode-2/video/ep-2-sex-machine.html
I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. The animation adds a lot. I think that much of the backlash to this show is an extension of that kneejerk "I was here first and the new stuff isn't as good!" sort of resentment. The Xfm diehards resented the podcasts. The podcast diehards resented "The Ricky Gervais Guide To..." audiobooks. And now the scorn is directed at the animated series.
One glaring omission: Step Up 3-D, on August 6th
Of course Gabe does not have his own bowling ball. Growing up, the only game that was around for him and Betty White was hoop rolling. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoop_rolling
I really like the videos you edited for the Fear of Tigers and Futurecop! tunes. Reminds me of this gem: http://vimeo.com/6611866
I'm confused as to why Mr. Seversen's link has generated so much hate. It's a solid Wonder Showzen reference. The last one of those (proposals' THAT"S RACIST gif) went down a storm on this thread: http://videogum.com/104341/look_at_all_of_these_racists/psas/
Oh dear, you've just reminded me of mangum, that sad, confused commenter from last year who posted all those photos of tubgirl. If you're still out there, mangum, let this song and video be an example of how you can channel your anger into something positive. Just open your mind and it ain’t no way to ignore the miracles of every day.
Apologies in advance for the following unpleasant observation: Violent J's mouth looks EXACTLY like an anus when he's "oooooooooo"-ing at 3:27 the mark.
Martin Bashir is such a phony scumbag. I am especially disappointed that he wore his fake outrage mask, rather than the fake sympathy one he sported for that Michael Jackson documentary several years ago. I was really hoping to see Shaggy 2 Dope climb a tree. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQLfJG1hmcM
If there isn't a G-Money Harrison/Final Placement collaboration in the works, then there is no justice in this world. None.
best comment, courtesy of Uunamedd: "i hate racist? but that was cool"
Agree completely. Also, the bumbling and self-corrections and whatnot at the end make him sound a bit too much like an Apatow creation or something.
The jean jacket dancing guy at the end is a treasure. Fake high-stepping legs are the new fake tiny hands.
When I saw the words "Mr. Hill" and "Impossible Task", I seriously thought Gabe was talking about Walter Hill and The Warriors (who faced the impossible task of making it all the way back to Coney Island without getting killed). God, I love The Warriors.
I'm not gonna front. I'm a sucker for "Valerie." But dude was too harsh in the grammar police role.
I don't know. I feel like electro lemon's comments don't necessarily deserve the downvotes. That being said, he or she does kind of make this thread feel like Abed's movie night.
Thanks for clearing that up. I assumed it was not legit (the production values are way too high for those folks to be serious), but I didn't know who was behind it until you pointed me in the right direction.
I just wanted to point out that this photo would've been a suitable replacement for the cover art on the last M83 album. Except that one had some boys in it. I think.
I believe they're just animating the first season of the podcasts (which is why that season has been removed from itunes). Also, I know I've harped on this before, but any monster that enjoys the podcasts should do him or herself a favor and head over to pilkipedia to grab all the old Xfm shows. They're every bit as good as the podcasts, and they're free. You'll hear the genesis of so many topics that reappear years later podcasts (like Auntie Nora farting for 5 minutes, Wet Knee Houston, big headed kids with webbed feet, etc, etc). They're essential.
Agreed. On the old Xfm radio shows, Steve and Ricky were always hilariously critical of the awful movies included in the usual tat given away as Rockbusters prizes (Ladder 49 being the perfect example). However, the boys have been mysteriously quiet regarding Steve's involvement in Tooth Fairy. It would have been a perfect topic for the Guide To Medicine.
Sorry to get all stereogum up in here, but there is a reason #21: great taste in music.
Clearly someone hasn't been playing Sonic and Tails Adventure 2.
In all seriousness, I think you make a good point about the world famous (or at least NYT and AOL famous!) Dunham post having a partisan element. It's one of the pieces that I cite when I'm trying to convince videogum virgins that this place is much more than just Juggalos and slow lorises. Not that there is anything wrong with Juggalos or slow lorises. Anyway, I guess my point is that Gabe would be doing his writing a disservice if he tried to make it all politically neutral.
