And the movie! It was in the movie, too.
Huge nerds united! The out of breath thing bugged me to no end. I'm watching this show where a 5'2", 90 pounds girl fights huge men dressed in ridiculous "demon" costumes and kicks their asses, but vampires running out of breath after a long run really ruins my suspension of disbelief. Also, how can vampires have sex, ever? Blood tears are just ridiculous, though.
This post is literally yesterday's news and no one is gonna read this comment, but I'm an ADULT with A JOB, so give me a tiny break here: I work in publishing (I'm the lead female character in a romcom, but instead of being Hollywood mousy, I'm just real world mousy, aka ugly). Last year we had to work on Glenn Beck's Christmas book, and once the first person finished reading it and shared the TWIST! ending, it became an endless source of amusement. So thanks, Glenn Beck, for pulling the "It was all a dream!" ending. Thank you for the laughs. Laughs free of any real mirth, because working in books like that made me souless. But still laffs! Cool story, bro.
Jonah Hill knocking January Jones up is definitely the plot of a Jonah Hill movie Jonah Hill wrote.
It's funny because people reading Dlisted probably didn't!
Very threatening. Is he gonna spit a bullet in the drink next?
Sake is a powerful drug. Trust me.
Aw, this deserves more upvotes. Fixing a hole, guys! Beatles humor!
Mans, I'd just like to say I'll miss your Lost posts. That's all. This is my sentimental, mushy, purgatory feeling it moment: Mans, I'll miss your Lost posts.
That's what I choose to get from it, too. Hurley sent Desmond back to Penny and baby Charlie, they lived happily ever after.
That would have made much more sense. What made Boone FEEEEL IIIIIT, anyway?
I hated the church scene, like, really hated it, but I was genuinely satisfied with the island ending. Guess I'm just a sucker.
They weren't dead all along. Some of them died on the island (Jack, Jin, Sun etc. etc.), others died long after (those who left on the plane, I'm guessing.) The flashsideways were the limbo before they all go to heaven. The last scene in the church was like the last scene in Titanic, when Rose arrives at the ship and everyone is there and she and Jack (Jack!) are finally together at last and their hearts will go on and on. Basically, yes, they're all dead in the flashsideways, but they didn't die at the plane crash, no.
You're in for... well, you're in for something. No one is sure what that something is, but we all agree, it was something.
Now I'm confused because Captain Tightpants doesn't look anything like Ethan. Firefly! Come on!
So true. And I NEVER cry watching tv! The Sun and Jin bit left me a mess.
Thank you for all your posts in these recaps, Can. The Videogum Lost experience will be what I miss the most.
I agree, the final scene was perfect. I just thought, "yes, obviously. There was no other possible final shot for this show. A+, everyone."
I was telling these fictional characters on my screen to stop worrying so much about the earthquakes, it's just the camera shaking. And those rocks won't even bruise you! Just chillax and walk normally, fictional characters on my screen.
I agreeee. I don't know, I didn't really like the limbo/purgatory/religious element to it, but I'm okay with the no real answers part. They did give us an answer: Jacob was a fucking asshole. Everything happened because Jacob was a fucking asshole, pretty much. Satisfying? Maybe not. And I really wanted more sci-fi, we got none. But it was an emotionally satisfying conclusion, and that's already a lot to me. And Desmond got Penny, and Ben got the island, and Lapidus and Miles survived.
Yes, exactly. I liked the final season of BSG just fine, but the STARBUCK IS AN ANGEL twist had nothing to do with the show. Lost always had that emotional, spiritual side to it. It was a much better fit, and most characters had pretty decent conclusions, which is more than I can say about BSG. Basically, ITA.
The LOST finale actually managed to be better than BSG, I think, even though BSG was the better show overall.
I third this, Mans is the best. Gold star for him: http://i46.tinypic.com/dnzo94.jpg
Ugh http://i45.tinypic.com/2q04iuw.jpg
Well, of course you'd say that. I've seen you around. http://tinypic.com/m/abs94j/4
Don't worry, I can see it. I can see it really well.
I can't reply to your other comment, but I had to say hearing from Steve Winwood to ignore something if I don't like it TOTALLY made my day.
I will, incredimarc, rest assured I will.
But Buffy has superpowers, including the superpower of being a huge girlcrush of mine. When Angel loses his soul, you're just gonna go the way of Jenny Calendar, and who's gonna be laughing then? PACEY AND I.
I can't reply directly to your comment about PUSSEY, which is good because I can't see this ending anywhere but in a cage. Where we'd be fighting. Do you know who also loves vampires? THAT GIRL FROM TWILIGHT. Yeah, I did.
I like her writing style, but can't always understand her point. I know talking about her point is dangerous English major territory, but some of her short stories leave me thinking, yes, this was pretty and poetic, but why does it exist? I think "xanaxed-out Sesame Street" is the perfect answer, really. I get everything now.
And you, my Mans, just wrote the best possible Lost series finale.
But don't Gabe's recap show you exactly what you seem completely unable to see? That Lost fans are not brainwashed polar bears who are completely blind to its faults? They just find it, you know, entertaining? Like television should be? I just feel like every week you come in these threads, and, to be honest, in most of your comments everywhere on Videogum, and talk like you're bringing us BRAND. NEW. INFORMATION about this. Stevie-poo, WE KNOW. Gabe knows. You're not telling us that Soylent Green is people. We know it was Earth all along. It's just that, surprisingly enough, people can get different things from the same starting point. Maybe you're only 11 and don't know that yet, but as you grow up and mature, you'll discover some pretty amazing things.
Some of us never expected a perfect resolution, Stevie. Some of us knew what we were going into, and were just along for the ride. And it's been a pretty great ride, most of the time. I have NO REGRETS.
Depends on the hot people making out. As long as you don't mean Kate, I can deal with that. If you mean Desmond making out with everyone, I can really deal with that, and will give the finale an A+++++++. My problem is that I was always more into the mysteries than the people. So emotional resolution is great, for the few characters I still care about, but I really need at least one of those hours to be all mindfuck sci-fi nonsense.
I want him to make Faraday feel it, if you know what I mean. You know what I mean, because it was obvious and gross. I'm sorry. I'm apologizing all over the place today! [I'm not sorry, Desmond/Faraday forever, you can't judge me.]
I really really hope you're right.
