Yes, the songs will sound different. Yes, they won't be as excellent as the original songs (which is a given, it's The Strokes). But that doesn't mean that a different approach to a piece of music means they can't play it. I'm sure The Strokes played covers when they were fifteen, and they've admitted they were pretty bad. Does that mean they should've stopped playing? I'm not saying I liked every song on this cover album. It's just.. these artists have a different style to The Strokes, and they're incorporating that in. We don't have to think it's fantastic, but we shouldn't demean the music just because of our taste (comparing a group like Computer Magic to an app is a bit below the belt if you ask me, and I'm not even that fond of their music). We just need to open our minds a bit and see a piece of music as more of a plastic thing, depending on whose hands are moulding it.
