Nice little peak at how a lot of Twitter works: blue checkmark smartass repeats story with zero first hand knowledge, no attempt at verification, adding "true story" > people run with the story > subject who was actually there steps up to refute the claim > no apology or retraction offered by bluecheck smartass. Usually the subject does not step forward so the "true story" gets further cemented as fact despite no first hand source or attribution. Rinse, repeat.

This looks like some classic paranoid Radiohead artwork.

Very nice. It's boom times for ladies going some amazing Radiohead covers. (This one from earlier this summer was also great: https://youtu.be/AHeW8McMBS8

I don't understand - was the audience yodeling, or just the people on stage? If only the latter, is the implication that the yodelers shot it into the audience with their yodeling? Were the yodelers not at least 6 feet from the audience? I'm going to need a diagram of the physics here.

HEALTH are great and have been on the cusp of breaking out here in LA for years. At this point it is clear they are content to remain on the cusp and not reach out to a wider audience. That's fine. Can't knock their integrity.

Ultrabasic. By design. Love it. She's won me over.

So at $0.0000001 per play, that's a nice $100 royalty check for Noel!

October 14, 2020 on Ariana Grande Says She Has A New Album Coming Out This Month
It seems like this guy has been grinding and putting pieces in place just waiting for the big break the video gave him. He started a merch line in August and has been on Cameo since June. He's an embodiment of that adage that luck = opportunity + preparation.

October 14, 2020 on The Official Fleetwood Mac “Dreams” Skateboarder Halloween Costume Is Here
I give these guys (this guy?) credit for sticking with it and still knocking out some decent tunes after all these years. He did it all despite the dubious band name and a singing voice which has always been a bit of an acquired taste to put it mildly. There was a moment when it seemed like they could be the next Shins. That that never happened but he still carved out a respectable career. The records are a bit spotty but a double CD of their best stuff would be a great collection.

Sounds like you had this comment loaded up and ready to fire away! (I don't disagree.)

October 13, 2020 on Claud – “Gold”
I mean the comment wasn't really about the quality of the music which is... fine? It's the trend where media (industry) pretend they aren't media and comment on media. It's not a huge deal here, it's much worse in political reporting.

October 13, 2020 on beabadoobee – “Together”
Who's the phony here?: The ones who just count up the number of posts before a debut album? Or the ones that call out "the industry" while being the industry?

October 13, 2020 on beabadoobee – “Together”
So this is perfectly fine and groovy but kind of sounds like everything else today. What's the point in a personal vanity label if they aren't going to take some chances?

I was worried we weren't going to get to revisit Gordy's unrelated crimes in this piece, but Stereogum did not disappoint and closed this fun story on that sour note.

October 12, 2020 on “Somebody’s Watching Me” Was Almost A Lenny Kravitz Song
This write up undersells a bit just how great these 2 songs really are. The production is so on point, the new layered vocals taking her up even another notch.

That's Daru Jones killing it on the drums. Best live hip hop drummer in the game and he's been behind Jack for a little while now. There really is no going back to Meg at this point.

It defies logic (ha), but some think cards are actually viable investment vehicles if purchases and sales are timed right. Gary Vee is a big believer in sports card investments these days.

Tim is the #1 funniest guy going today. When contrasted against all the effort Jon Daly has to put into being barely funny, you see how next level Tim is. (Jimmy's got a sweet kitchen, glad to see he apparently got real paid.)
