This looks amazing. Also remember when we cancelled every concert this year and now everyone is getting together in massive gatherings? My brain has whiplash right now.

June 7, 2020 on Watch Sturgill Simpson’s Charity Livestream From An Empty Ryman Auditorium
If you haven’t watched Trigger Warning on Netflix, I’d recommend it during these times. It’s short and a lot warmer and funnier than you’d think. It’s like a Killer Mike hosted and Black Power themed version of Nathan For You. Which rules.

Perfume Genius releasing his best album yet and it may not even make my top 5 of the year. That’s how good 2020 is, I’m with you. My favorite musical year since 2010.

RTJ4 and Fiona really duking it out for AOTY but honestly, we all know this year has been a free for all music-wise. (And world wise I guess, jeez) Also I may have spent $64 on Superchunk bootlegs alone on today’s Bandcamp Day. Hope you’re all doing well. Keep listening, keep fighting, keep reading, and donate if you can. #BlackLivesMatter

As someone who was rolling a spliff in his car and absolutely BLASTING “Entertainment!” and specifically how hard the song Ether goes....well let’s just say when I got up to a certain track on RTJ4, I may have shat myself.

June 5, 2020 on Kanye West Joins Police Brutality Protests In Chicago
Typos galore but you get the point. Sorry, if I triggered anyone who don't have the intellectual ability to hear the phrase "Cancel Culture" without attacking someone.

June 5, 2020 on Kanye West Joins Police Brutality Protests In Chicago
The "He Was No Angel" narrative has been going on long before "Cancel Culture", you're right. But contributing to the normalization of dehumanizing human beings by constantly "cancelling" people does absolutely have an effect on society at large though and we are seeing in real time. Places like F0X News are now adopting the same pathological rhetoric to strength racist narratives and it is dangerous for American society. I am clearly a progressive so not sure why you're coming at me. Insecure wok people attacking other people online who are on their side for BS is exactly why this movement (and many progressive movements) have taken so long to gain traction.

Btw, fun to see racist conservatives online playing the same moral purity test BS that liberals have been using to cancel people for years. Now that mindset is being used by the right to excuse the executions of unarmed black civilians (HURP DURP HE WAS NO ANGEL) If only there had been people around saying cancel culture is dangerous. When you lower the intellectual bar and remove nuance from human beings, people WILL use that eventually to dehumanize people who are oppressed. “ye” is still mediocre tho

Yeah, I don’t care how much you guys hate him. This is a good thing he did and that’s really that. Minimizing these actions because of some kind of moral purity test (we all hate Trump, we get it) isn’t helpful to the cause. It’s no way to progress such an important movement. We need as many allies as we can get.

Lifelong NYer here and I've never heard about Breezy Point but surprised your first example is a town in Queens!! I 100% agree with everything you're saying and just wanted to remind everyone of the MULTITUDE of almost ALL white towns where there is a SIGNIFICANT police/FD population all around Long Island and Staten Island. These people all will commute to the city.

lol maybe to someone looking for a reason to attack anyone they possible can on this issue (please see the rest of your comments on this article)? Psychos clearly in reference to the LDR controversy and people offended by it....you know...the thing that this article is about..... Burn it all down but don’t blame Lana if you get caught lol. I genuinely can’t stop laughing at the image of police (in the middle of all of this) being like “WE GOT EM. LANA POSTED THEM ON HER STORY. BRIEFING AT 0600”

June 1, 2020 on Kehlani, Tinashe Call Out Lana Del Rey For Posting Video Of People Looting
yeah see this is why so many people across the country stay silent about issues like this. I never once called any looter an idiot or a moron in my comment. I said I SUPPORTED them and do not care about any store being looted and instead you put words in my mouth and then attacked me. Lol good luck with that recruiting strategy pal. You’re part of the problem. Sorry I made you feel like an idiot/moron. You should.

maybe people on here would take you more seriously if you actually read the comments people were saying on here instead of just rambling and screaming and everyone who you SUSPECT isn’t on your side. Most of us are actually very much so on the side of the protestors and fixing this broken country so maybe some just loudly parroting stuff you read on Twitter with no actual solutions besides rage and destruction than maybe we’d take you seriously.

Haha I always love when white people post something on social media that is essentially just: "I've been trying to find the right words to say without actually doing anything to help"

June 1, 2020 on Lorde Addresses George Floyd Protests, “Performative Activism” In Rare Statement
I'm usually the first person to mock Lana on here but as much as I want to dogpile on her here, this is so incredibly stupid. I don't care about people rioting and looting during these protests cause the ends justify the means. This has been going on way too long in America and it's time to make people care. BLM. End of story there. But LDR literally just proved the point she tried to make with her original note. You guys were all the one furious that she even implied that people treat her differently than black artists? LOL She posted video of something happening in front of her. Something that is a crime. And now she is receiving backlash for posting it because it may identify someone doing a crime out in broad daylight, in public? She's the person who is wrong here? Not the people busting opening storefronts? Was it stupid to post? Sure. But, God forbid anyone in this country has any accountability for their actions. I'm super behind these protests. Loot any store you want. Not going to sit here and pretend I care about a Fedex store cause I don't. But I'm not going to sit here and act like Lana is the person doing the most harm here by posting an IG video. Come back to reality people. Feel free to protest, riot, or loot. But it isn't LANA DEL REYS fault if you get caught, you raging psychos.

May 30, 2020 on Madonna Mocked For Posting Son’s Dance Tribute To George Floyd
I could not stop laughing when I saw that video. So stupid but I’m not sure what else we expected from Madonna? “Madonna makes horrific issue about herself” is definitely an article that many magazines/publishers probably have a TEMPLATE for at this point.

May 22, 2020 on Lana Del Rey Is Fed Up With Critics Who Say She Glamorizes Abuse
Here’s the difference. Charli XCX got in hot water for her song “Girls”. Cardi B got in hot water for admitting to drugging men and stealing from them. Nicki Minaj gets in more trouble because she constantly tears other women down and defending her pedophile rapist brother. Rick Ross and Cee Lo Green are such bygone relics from last decade that now I KNOW you’re not American.

everyone wants to dog pile on people for saying something problematic but if we bring up rap music, suddenly people give a shit about context. FOH.

May 21, 2020 on Lana Del Rey Is Fed Up With Critics Who Say She Glamorizes Abuse
This isn’t about followings or success, it’s about who gets “called out”. Enough of the BS “context argument” too. Here’s the real context: In America, liberals value ignorant POC and demonize ignorant white people. Conservatives value ignorant white people and demonize ignorant POC. End of story.
