I mean I love Thank You.. but it's nowhere near the classic Depression Cherry

What if Kanye apologized for how shitty he's been to all his collaborators? Would that destroy the creative mastermind persona he's spend so long cultivating? Nah, his shitty new music will do that for him.

The writing credits for the album now lists all the band members (and Eno), so I guess that wrong was eventually corrected too.

The shabby treatment aint exactly one sided. Chris and Tina are no angels in that regard. I love David Byrne and am biased but yeah he seemed kinda shitty at times.

Honestly, who cares about when the cutoff for what's eligible, how do they not have a Cardi B/Megan Thee Stallion performance?

It's kinda crazy, they have like ~10 new cases a day and haven't even had a death since April (according to google). Always best to be cautious but increased restrictions? Now if only certain Americans would heed these warnings as strongly. But then again they are an island nation with a dispersed population (outside Reyjkavik) so not exactly a parallel of what we got here.

I know I shouldn't be but I'm pretty excited about this movie. Love Batman, love Pattinson and glad it actually looks like a real movie (one that owes heavily to Nolan's Batman but ok). Also, supremely relevant tweet. Does it match exactly? https://twitter.com/mikewarburton/status/1294231424246198275

And here I am having basically dumped or sold my entire collection last year. Just couldn't justify the space requirements. Glad I still have my Talking Heads special edition dualdiscs though. Ah, early 2000s, all the best most quickly obsolete were born then.

I'm with you that often confuses me. Triathlon's bandcamp says New York, so I'll say that's the "source of truth"

It's so weird to me that Apple TV+ has such a dearth of content. They've released like 3 scripted movies, and only a handful of shows that as far as I can tell absolutely no one watched. Why didn't they make sure they had a ton of content before starting?

His films are uglier than Zak Snyder? Or whoever else is helming any "DC Universe" films. It's pretty obvious they saved money on CGI during the big battle scenes by setting them in some sort of grey post-apocalytpic war zone (looking at you Wonder Woman, which is otherwise a decent movie).

I agree that The Prestige doesn't hold up. Too dependent on twists to truly stand up to repeat viewings. Disagree on Memento. Recently rewatched and was just as captivated as I was the first time I saw it.

I always thought that about his book lists. How does someone read so much? I love to read but I could never through as many as he does. Oh of course this list is a committee creation. Besides our current "leader" what other politicians just let their true feelings out into the world without being focus grouped. But yes, that being said, I love a ton of these songs too.

For the show I was at after he left the stage we were all standing around waiting for an encore so he came out said "there's no encore" and left. We all were sad but also laughed about that sincerity. Overall, A+ show.

I kinda can't wait to hear the "Stairwell Song". I love when Bright Eyes goes for those atypical (for them) beats like "Coat Check Dream Song" and "Approximate Sunlight". After Sufjan covered "Hotline Bling" in concert (truly one of the most unexpected and magical experiences), are these guys headed even more towards the singularity of sad (new) dad music I've been waiting for?

That first song on Nasir was so bad, I just gave up on the album. That 2nd verse when he's going in on Conspiracy theories (some true) he says Lincoln didn't free slaves thru the Emancipation proclamation which is such a weird stance I just couldn't take it anymore.

In fall of 2010 I was a dating a girl from the local art school and she was shocked, shocked that I hadn't seen this movie yet. Everyone she knew saw it. (Must have been literally the only ones who had). Eventually I did and liked it, but this essay really has me wanting to revisit it. Thanks SG!

This is as good a place as any but I've been listening to the Baltimore-based rapper DDm's new album (EP?) that uses the story of Omar (from The Wire) to express DDm's own sexuality. Pretty good stuff! https://open.spotify.com/album/2wj58UOHQIaPPNlR9tJuk3?si=m6uhWFoeTmi-c2J4V1D26g

Utopia just gets completely under my skin. My first few listens I liked the "singles" but a lot of the other stuff didn't feel like songs. Then slowly, and slowly its become the go-to Bjork album for me. Every song is epic and intimate. What an artistic achievement. How many other artists just keep pushing boundaries and getting weirder this far into their career?
