...also, from a guy who only ever heard Blank Space and Shake it Off and has no basis of comparison for these songs....this is a pretty solid RA album!
I'm starting to think that this was a humanitarian move on Ryan's part. He knew the world wanted to listen to 1989 on Spotify and he's just giving the people what they want. Thanks man!
Except that all of these articles have been the most commented on for like the last week on Stereogum. So whether we like it or not, they're really just giving the people what they want.
Isn't about time that we drop this silly story and turn our attention back to the fact that the War on Drugs just released an album to make rock fans rejoice (and one of the best of the year), and that Carissa might just be one of the greatest songs ever written?
Hey Bryan, I accidentally downvoted you. Sorry bout that! I wanted to respond to you about Drown. This band meant so much to me when I was a teenager. Siamese Dream was the soundtrack to my first real relationship. But Drown! Oh man, that riff...
Have to say, I'm somewhat disappointed that this article has gotten buried so far down your news feed and no one seems to be reading it. I've been a big Go-Betweens fan for years. Any one who like the Smiths or R.E.M needs to check them out.
Hey Stereogum, how about an albums ranking, or top ten songs to introduce people?
So, I've heard the stuff about Eric Church being the anti-country music country singer or country music for people who like springsteen or whatever, but if I picked up the album and liked it I wouldn't go around telling everybody that it was one of the best country albums of the year or anything like that. Because I don't listen to country music, so I have no frame of reference. That's why I take offense to your addition of it to this list. Stereogum doesn't cover mainstream country music. So you can't just pick one country music album out of the blue and proclaim it to be the 11th best album of the first half of the year. There is no basis of comparison, so it's addition doesn't make any sense.
Sorry, just sayin'
