Loved this song live, and the studio version reminds me a lot of "The Only Living Boy in New York" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJGSHMgbB0E) which is one of my favourite songs of all time.
This is most definitely the anthem.
This is hard to argue with, obviously mine would be different but there's nothing that I would say shouldn't be on this and the top 3 is pretty much spot on in my opinion.
I really can't state enough how important Bright Eyes has been to me as a person and as a music fan. This music has got me through (and continues to get me through) some tough times; I listened to Bright Eyes pretty much constantly from the ages of 15 through 18, and Oberst's lyrics will always be a source of inspiration for me. I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning is in the top 5 or so albums ever made in my opinion, one of the most beautiful collections of songs ever recorded, both melancholic and angry in a way that little else has managed to balance so well.
"I got no plans and too much time
I feel too restless to unwind
I'm always lost in thought
As I walk a block to my favourite neon sign
Where the waitress looks concerned
But she never says a word
Just turns the jukebox on
And we hum along
And I smile back at her"
In my mind True Stories has to be at the bottom, and I would find it a huge stretch to put it above 77 in particular, top half is pretty solid though. My own personal list would be:
1. Remain in Light
2. More Songs
3. Fear of Music
4. Speaking in Tongues
5. 77
6. Naked
7. Little Creatures
8. True Stories
I wasn't sure where I could put this but guys guys guys guys OMMMMMGGGGG!!!!!!

I wasn't overly impressed on first run through. It's pretty good but none of the new tracks can quite stand up to BTSTU or Jasmine. Hopefully though it'll get better with multiple listens, as those two tracks weren't immediately great but needed time to sink in.
I saw The Strokes at Rockness in 2010 and it was incredible. Although part of that might have been that I got the chance to see The Strokes live, which I honestly never thought I would.
In fairness the review was one staff members opinion. He also seemed to suggest the title track was pretty weak then that got a Best New Track nod. I can forgive a dodgy review, but if it's not on the year end list something is seriously wrong.
Best album of the year so far for me. His song writing has definitely improved and I love the straight up dance (if you can really describe any JB track as that) one-two punch of "Digital Lion" and "Voyeur". I loved the debut, but Overgrown feels like a more complete and cohesive single artistic statement. Wasn't sure about the RZA collab at first but that track has won me over majorly, I would love to hear him explore hip-hop even more (there's been talk of him working with Kendrick, which would possibly be the best thing ever to happen to my life).
On the Texas thing I meant more that you're removed from the effect of the politician being mentioned, you could have been from anywhere outside the UK and I would have used it. I can see how you took it the way you did and I can assure you it wasn't meant like that.
Well I can tell you that my parents working class families from Scotland and Yorkshire both benefited in their own ways from her policies. It's a myth that she only worked for the wealthy in the south.
The mines were running at a deficit and the unions refused to budge on anything, so shutting them down was the correct decision at the time. Where I agree with you here is that these people were then left with no prospects where contingencies should have been in place to retrain workers and put into effect a transition into another industry. That, IMO, is where she went wrong, and also arguably left the country, as it is clear now, too reliant on London and the banking and technology industries while, to use a popular phrase, "we don't make things any more".
Not that you aren't entitled to an opinion, but all I really seem to have seen from non-Brits on twitter/facebook/the general intranets is unbalanced rhetoric, either positive or negative, based on second hand accounts. The truth just as many people benefited from her policies as suffered. She turned around a dying economy but hurt many people in the process. To deify her is to ignore the damage caused to so many families and communities during her time in office, to vilify her is to forget the state the country was in beforehand and ignore the many families who were better off. It's possible to disagree with someone's politics without going full Morrissey on them.
I think I'm with Chris on this one tbh. Elephant will undoubtedly be the album The White Stripes are remembered by, but White Blood Cells perfectly captured everything that was great about them. Elephant, while still packed with great songs, didn't show off the brilliantly raw and exciting nature of the band in the same way WBC and De Stijl did.
