I'd rank Henry in the top 5 - silly me
it's definitely one of his better post, post Linda records - too bad it got the Mitch Froom treatment
Rumor & Sigh shouldn't be so hi, blah bla bah can't argue with Brite Lites and Pour Down Like Silver as top two, blah thanx for the list!
I don't go to BTS for the killer jams . . I know, I know. this sounds just fine
Drums & Wires thru English Settlement is my favorite period - there's a bevy of great b-sides in there too - but a lot of people cut their teeth on Skylarking, and it is a pretty great record . .
Hejira's my fave, but I understand the popular sentiment for Blue and Court and Spark. Might put Hissing Lawns at #2, and For the Roses at 3 - maybe.
Marie, from his under-appreciated last record, is about as harrowing as they get. So is The Hole.
never a big fan of their jammy side - PFNO would be #3 only because The Normal Years not allowed
still her best record
I'd have a hard time parsing out the very best songs, but Legendary Hearts and Magic and Loss as whole records would be in my top 5 or so . . . no songs on the list of either, but then of course how do you narrow Lou Reed down to 10 songs - a noble task indeed
"Religion don't mean a thing/ it's just another way to be right wing" is a Damned quote btw
ya know, the boston spaceship years are pretty damn list-worthy too
. . . though I suppose Flowers is more of an odds and ends collection - but a great one
Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass) is one of the best hits records ever, and neatly collects all those great early Jagger-Richards songs (minus most of the covers) - I know greatest hits records don't usually qualify, but BHHTAGG would make my top five, and Flowers would be in my top ten.
1. Sell Out 2. Tommy 3. Quadrophenia 4. A Quick One 5. Meaty Beaty Gotta admit that Who's Next does have the problem of freshness for me . . . my loss
Dig Me Out and The Hot Rock definitely #1 & 2 . . .
death grips . . good one! robyn is a pretty generous sort . finished "shaky" a bit ago - neil young pretty m uch refused to listen to ANYTHING, though he did lit a little bit of nirvana in. maybe the musician-types i tend to be drawn to were big fanboy geeks first, and that comes out in their music
could go with 2/3 of auquemeni for starters . . . tuff pix when, like thee clash, there's just too much of quality to choose from
