How long before we hear that The 1975 are being sued for stealing the main riff from "Disorder"? Did they credit Joy Division or are they really that daft?
Anyone have a link to what is being shown on each channel and when? In year past they've had it on their youtube page under the stream, but there's nothing there currently.
Great list, and it really shows how incredible this band is when you still have to leave out songs like "The Amazing Sounds of Orgy", "Down is the New Up", and "Bangers + Mash". I'd also have "The Butcher" in there but I suppose its a little hard to justify having every single one of the KoL's b-sides on this list.
I can understand why people reacted the way they did when U2's new album was automatically placed onto their iphones and such, but personally I think it was an extremely smart choice on their part from a business stand point. It did wonders as far as getting people, particularly younger people who may be unfamiliar with their stuff, to go back and listen to (and buy) their older albums.
Understandable, thanks for taking the time to reply. Again, really liked the list and hope to see this feature again. As much as I enjoy best of So and So's albums/songs, I prefer this kind of list more. It provides a broader history lesson on music and gives way to finding some more obscure acts who remained in the shadow of their more famous peers.
I see that you guys excluded LCD Soundsystem because they're more associated with what comes after that cut off year of 2005, but I'm a bit surprised since "Losing My Edge" came out in 2002. Their album came out in 2005, just the same as The Bravery and Robbers On High Street, and I personally have a hard time separating them from acts like !!! and The Rapture when talking about early 2000s NYC. Was the opinion more just that they seemed to evoke a more evolved sound than what these artists started? Keeping off their stellar debut single seems like a crime otherwise.
I'm really glad to hear this album is not only good, but great. Half way through it now and I'd have to agree with that sentiment. Been a bit of a dry spell for things music wise lately (at least for me) and this is the shot needed to give my car some new tunes to play with what's left of summer.
The euphoric feeling I get when listening "To Binge" has always placed that song highly for me. I feel like I'm floating on a cloud as Albarn and Nagano propel me over an ocean toward the setting sun.
You talk as if its ever been any different. "One Hit Wonder" isn't a new term or anything. Music history is filled with bands building their legacy and fanbase off of that one hit.
