I'm gay and I agree! The gays just sort of automatically dance to anything she does. Although they aren't that impressed with this. (yes, I speak for all the gays!)
I had my first kiss with a girl dancing to with or without you in the gym auditorium for my 8th grade graduation dance. Then I went to see them at RFK stadium in DC in early September for my first ever (major) concert. Sigh.
I don't get the bad reviews. I think it's fantastic and the some of her flatness just adds to her charm. What you say about sounding overpaid and under produced is exactly what entices me.
I agree but Italian TV is probably the best of the best. Their American Idol/X Factor is pretty amazing. The worst people come up and play instruments/sing and the host NEVER stops smiling and the audience always claps. ALWAYS - no matter what. And most performances are horrendous. Still, they say "bene" and it's just as if the world's crappiest singer belted it out better than Mariah or Whitney (when she had a voice). They also have tremendous celebrity appearances like Gloria Gaynor who usually just look lost and confused and on loads of hallucinogens.
See - by the up votes, it even seems people are in favor of this move. So thanks for the words of encouragement Polythene Pam, it's appreciated, but I'm done here.
For the record, I wasn't trying to get down votes last week, I was just trying to be funny/grumpy. My only wish for all of you is that R2D2 becomes less of a boring self-righteous drip. And with that...ciao!

A little history behind that comment: that was what Gabe said in a tweet to me about the Pizza video this week:

I said the exact same thing because I thought it was funny and was meant to be friendly - hence the wink. It didn't work. Oh well. One thing I've learned on this board is that if you say something in jest against R2D2 esq. people down vote you pretty fast. He's very popular on this board for whatever reason.
That said, I think it's cur-TENS for me on this board guys. Last week I was sure I made it to the monster's ball - I had two comments hidden due to low ratings. I'm obviously not liked here, so I can take a hint. I'll still read because I think Gabe and Kelly are really funny and I'm big fan of both of them, but most of the readers on here don't seem to like me. So it was fun guys (for me anyway).

rejectedjeffdunhampuppet If you read my earlier statements you'd see that I addressed this. There is a Ken Jennings who donated. Maybe it's him, maybe it's not. I've moved on from that though and said if I was wrong about that then I apologize. How many times do I have to apologize?

Anyway, I still don't think the joke was funny. I don't care who said it and I'm still not even convinced it's him. It's amazing that everyone is so sure. I mean, anyone could log in with that name and come up with that response.Anyone can say that they didn't do something or that they are something. Which is what I was getting at with R2. He took it to mean that i was "taking a shot" at him, but my point was that well it's not really R2D2 posting is it - how do we know it's really Ken Jennings? But he took it personally. Not my intention. My intention which I'm doing a really bad job at was to drop this subject.
He's out of his mind. But this mindset is not unlike a lot of rich Americans. I said in an earlier post that I don't even think some people in the 1% are" aware" that they're in the 1%. I do, however, think he knows better, so I'm not sure what he's trying to accomplish other than douchery but I will say there a very real perverted sense of wealth in this country. A lot of rich people compare themselves to other rich people and feel "poor" by comparison. Oh you have a yacht and a 15,000 sf summer home, I only have a summer home and a Bently, I'm pooorrr.
On the flip side, A lot of poor people vote for rich people to stay in office and perpetuate the oligarchy we live in because they view themselves as one day being able to be rich. They're voting against their interests because they are "potentially" rich.

Well one thing I'll say for him, if it is him, is that at least he's not anon R2D2 *cough*. I have no evidence to say that he's not a homophobe but public records apparently state otherwise. So it's one thing to say you didn't donate - lots of people have said they didn't donate who did donate - that's why there was an uproar talking about releasing the donor list.
If I am wrong, then, yes I apologize for calling him a homophobe if he, in fact, isn't one. However, getting back to the point at hand, I still think the joke was in bad taste and just because he isn't someone who thinks it's ever "too soon" doesn't mean that I don't think it is too soon. So there is no contrition on my end for that matter. While a lot of you may be very excited that a "moderately famous" guy as you call him posted to the board, it doesn't impress me. I still think it was in poor taste.
Getting back to the fact of whether or not this is really him. Based on what he said he doesn't seem like a bad guy at all. And if he truly is not part of the 1% then good for him for what he's doing. I don't know what he makes, but I will say that most rich people don't consider themselves in the 1% - even though they are. It's hard to feel truly wealthy in this country so if you're not in the 0.01% you may feel relatively poor in comparison. I see it all the time in NYC. People complain about making $500k because it's not enough to have a wife in kids in NYC. They may be right, but it still puts them in the 1%.
