no "nutshell"? huh. i'd put black gives way to blue in there. it's heartbreaking. nice work on love hate love
i live in john's hometown of butte, montana and talked extensively with him after a show in bozeman a few years ago. he was very nice but seemed very moody and withdrawn. we talked about butte and what it was like for him to grow up there. being a metal misfit, according to him was not exactly an easy run as a teenager. he hated butte with a passion and i can't really blame him. i assured him that butte was changing (it is) and thanked him for playing in front of 40 people in bozeman. since john was a butte kid and jason lived down the valley in three forks they blessed us with a killer show at a dive called the zebra. i'll always be thankful to them for playing montana. the show ad is framed on the wall. i hope everyone finds joy in their new bands.
learn to swim, learn to swim, learn to swim, learn to swim, learn to swim.....
love marissa, don't love strangers. to my ears, randall dunn and marissa took her strengths and completely buried them. i understand why they tried a new sound sonce july was such a masterpiece but everything but "dissolve" is lost in the muck. i hope next time she uses a band she gets top notch players who can add the flourishes to the music the current band is incapable of doing. for fans of marissa i'd highly recommend emily jane white's "they danced in shadow all together". her 5th album and first to feature a sound she can claim to be hers and hers alone.
I never knew the man but his music left such a mark on me i miss him every day. it feels like a little bit of magic on the earth was lost forever. prince brought people together and we need as much common ground as we can. what a beautiful letter. thank you apollonia.
"off he goes" is the only song i like on the album. interesting read.
that's the most i've enjoyed metallica since lulu (yes i like the absurdity of it) and before that-justice. james stays in his ride/master style of singing for the most part. no bob rock forced crooning. also, 3 minutes plus is a good length for a solid ripper. best riff in a long time too.
imipramine, lithium, klonopin, perphenazine and temazepam. i know brother, i know.
i love south of heaven but the guys in slayer hate it. too slow, too much singing. i don't care. like many others i believe it is awesome.
doug is great but he'd be better served making new material with death of samatha rather than another batch of bob's retreads.
went to an i.c.p. show blind 2 months ago. didn't know a thing about anything but faygo. the show was great, the crowd was respectful and it was a lot of fun dodging flying faygo bottles. i'm proud to say i'm down with the clown.
they are not for "redneck pride". they tear into rednecks on lots of their songs.
they are targeting all i.c.p. fans as being part of a gang.
and not wearing a heavy costume. once gene got up he went right back to work. and.....montana rules!
mike wuensch? tell that son of a bitch "nabzort" for me.
kanye is a butt crumb of what passes for art these days. he's not a revolutionary, he's the establishment. downvote me all you want millenials. when i'm in the nursing home you'll be begging me and other x'ers for stories about when art and music had a higher purpose other than "look at me!".
andee and alan are two great guys. i will miss all the hard work they put into the new release lists and the inbetween lists. i've been turned on to more music via aQ than any other music store. so long and thanks for all the fish!
i'd leave too if i were posting false information.
sure i am. you know everything about me. my name is johnny rebel. oh wait, that's david allen coe. oh wait, i don't actually know what i;'m talking about like suit guy.
i'm not the guy who came in here spreading false information about dac. i come from knowledge having actually listened to his music and not johnny rebel instead. and since you can only find one, johnny ace should cancel that right out.
now he's a white supremacist? you are full of shit. just stop because you're just writing nonsense. come legit or don't come at all.
that's ONE song. keep going guy who thought dac was johnny rebel and made up who knows what else.
that's quite a statement. i'd like some psychological studies backing that claim.
how many racist songs does he have. list and source them. also, does the johnny ace song get to cancel a supposed racist song?
son_of_cheap_suit is ill informed and talking out his ass (as his assertion that dac is johnny rebel proves). dac does not have "racist records" from wikipedia and sourced: "Johnny Rebel is often misidentified as the pseudonym of David Allan Coe,[8] an American outlaw country music singer who achieved popularity in the 1970s and 1980s. The confusion stems in part from the song "Nigger Fucker", which appears on Coe's Underground Album. Coe has been quoted as saying that "anyone that hears [Underground Album] and says I'm a racist is full of shit."[9]"
a lot of people also confuse racism for stupidity.
people always confuse johnny rebel with david allen coe. david allen coe did very little music that could be considered racist. a few? yes. but not much. the napster era basically labeled every johnny rebel song as dac. if you don't like coe's music because you think he's a racist you're missing out.
the bitrate of music posted on youtube is abhorrent. is that what trent wants to do? sell music at 128k?
males doing it doesn't make it right.
adele may be a great singer but she is a vile woman. she literally can't speak without cursing every other word. it's a symptom of a lack of intellect. if she wants to curse in her private life fine. She sounds like an elementary school dropout that wasn't smart enough to be a juggalo.
it's only the first year of many where we will watch our musical idols fall.
not a huge fan of rid of me. and i hate albini's production. dry #1.
aic were certainly aesthetically interesting. aside from the everlys i'd be hard pressed to name a better harmony duo in rock music. layne's voice was powerful and unique. billy got it right. scott, layne and kurt. cornell and vedder are second and third tier respectively.
what a shitty write up. real classy to kick the man's corpse in the second to last paragraph. did he do those things? yes. did he eventually pay with his life for his reckless streak? he sure did. weiland suffered as he lived. he was a junkie. he mistreated some people as junkies can do. there is absolutely no need to take a mocking tone in regards to the dead man's life. r.i.p.
More terrible, misguided people with guns. As Neil Young said, "Love and only love will endure. Hate is everything you think it is".
