"American Life" is an excellent album and releasing it was the most punk rock thing Madonna could've ever done in her career. There are NO singles on that album whatsoever. Just minimalistic, well-written and performed pop songs.

So happy to see Madonna fans on Stereogum. I honestly didn't know they existed here! It's refreshing to see comments made by people who know a little about her musical history/discography, people who can actually have an educated, intelligent response to these songs she just put out. Right on!

Perfect video to get high to & I'm loving the "stripclub scene". By the way, if anybody hasn't heard this album yet, give it a listen. It makes me proud to see how far Dee Dee's come as a songwriter. Cool stuff

I don't think her response is based off of her feeling like she has to defend herself. I think Sky's response manifested itself out of anger because of the fact that someone would think to call her racist and colorblind. I think she just wanted to have a cool-looking video with some cool, hip-hop dancers. Sorry, but I don't think she's wrong for wanting that. Come on guys, she's not racist.

I really like this. It definitely sounds more fresh than "Born To Die" and "Summertime Sadness". This sounds more natural for her. Still don't know how I feel about "Pale Moonlight", though...

I hate it when people are like "Wow! She can actually sing!"..but, wow! she can actually sing! This is actually the most attention I've ever paid to Sky Ferreira and I'm glad I finally stopped to listen. She seems pretty cool.
