No :/ But I want to! What are some good episodes to start with? I'll put a few on my phone and try to listen on the train this week.
Different writers, different opinions!
It's Monday!!! http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_LbEOZqOqjYs/TKnSHv9GOxI/AAAAAAAARxE/20jlkKVSW-c/s1600/ack.jpg
I always win.
Oops i even saw it on Broadway last year... fixed.
Last time I wrote about them I called them preeminent and got called out for it in the comments! :( I can't win!
meat, give in to KKB. they're so good!!
Damn, dawg, you totally out-wrote me in my own post! But yeah, I wanted to delve into all of the different personas and storylines that are threaded throughout each song and the album as a whole, but they all seem to be mutable and constantly shifting and I just kind of threw up my hands after a while and recognized it as some genius that's impossible to unravel. I love that there's so many unknowables about this album -- I think that's why I come back to it so often -- and I love that the Knife will never be the kind of group to provide any of those answers. I linked away to it briefly in the essay, but if you haven't yet definitely check out their new interview with Fader. Definitely a must-read for any fan.
how'd you find this picture of me?
i didn't realize it was a cover at first! twitter got very mad.
sorry i stole this for a tweet i'm dying at this GIF
For what it's worth, I find them totally insufferable and awful too!! Know that I will be cringing along with you at every post. But people like what they like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
ughhhh i can't keep track of all these pasty people making pop music but thx, i fixed :P
Spinee is one of my favorites!! her Dog Food mixes w/ GFOTY are awesome
this sounds fun!! would play
Swish definitely grew on me, but I think that's some Stockholm syndrome shit
Yeah, just saw that. Updated https://tpo-hosted-files.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/images/emoji/confounded.png
Swish > Waves, but both are not great

I saw Vince & CRJ (twice) like a week apart last year. Vince is great live, but he's still growing. I'd go with CRJ -- her show is fantastic, totally lives up to the album. I'm sure the new tour will be even more polished.
Yeah, once Ross left everything took a nosedive. I am a firm supporter of PATD's first two albums (first one's a little cringey, sure, but it's fun), but can't fuck with any of the later stuff. Dude's still really young (29! according to Wiki). I wouldn't be surprised if he resurfaced in a few years doing something totally different.
They've always been intertwined in my mind -- both broke through around the same time, and were seemingly influenced by each other as they were coming up. (Jesse Lacey covered them a bunch when he was doing solo shows.) They were also not-really-emo bands that were embraced by the emo scene (though MM's reach was more varied and wide-reaching). The few shows they headlined together a couple of years back, I think, solidified their similar fanbases/approaches to music. Though, admittedly, I'm a much bigger BN fan than I am of Modest Mouse, so maybe their connection is a little one-sided...
It's a GoPro commercial :/
:)
Both were more "projects" than albums, I'd reckon -- one was a song-a-week thing, while the other was the culmination of a split series. And moreso, IIOI refers to Standards as their third LP themselves, so I just deferred to that. Projects vs. albums have very different approaches, and Evan seems to be all about the process.
Huh, press release said the 6th! Must've been a typo. Fixed - thanks
I did! I listened to the whole thing!! :) My first podcast
Recently revisited The Fame (+ Monster) and Born This Way and they both hold up really well. Very ready for Gaga's legacy to eventually take hold after the ARTPOP stink wears off.
:( I like a lot of it but I agree
Hmm, I think Eclipse as a whole was a major misstep. Just way too cheesy and not in a fun/good way. "To The Top" is an exception because it's, like, so fucking over the top. "Turn Me Up" & "Half Life" are also pretty good, but otherwise I think the rest of it fell flat. I'm hopeful that he can turn it around for the next album tho. This song is decent, and gives me some hope for the future
it happened, you were right
no!!! just informing people it exists if they want to listen to it. that being said, i kind of like song exploder (but have never finished a whole episode) because it's just the artist talking. i hate podcasts more when they are discussion-based bc it reminds me of talk radio, which is uniformly horrible.
It wasn't me, I swear! :O Must've been the Silent Majority...
woo thank you! couldn't find it anywhere. added it in
