Not too impressed... Thom needs to get back to writing real music. Why is he trying to be a 40 year old club kid? What is it with these Brits and their clubs?
I am not trying to be an ass; I really like this band. They look AWFUL. Are they all on heroin or something? Ryan and Creighton have both dropped like half their body weight, and the rest of the guys look fvcking skeletal. Ben normally has some pipes, but he sounded pretty rough here. Hard song to play live, but still.
These guys need a little time off to get their shit together.
I don't know... I pretty much hate Corgan at this point, but Drown was one of those songs that is on the soundtrack to my adolescence.
It came out when I was in 7th grade. I remember listening to it on repeat the night of my first kiss. Kind of cheesy, I know, but damn if that adolescence ain't some powerful shit.
Really? I mean, why? Why did this need to be made? He adds nothing to the song and just sounds like he is trying to be Thom. I can understand doing this at a STP show or something, but to record and sell it is just ridiculous.
Well, and his mole switches sides a few times... That said, the video is beautiful and those things do not matter. The only reason i even noticed the shirt was b/c I was thinking about how itchy that sweater would be on bare skin.
Am I the only one who thinks that video is nothing more than incoherent babbling? I am sure there are MAJOR disconnects going on over there, but there is no excuse for rioting and senseless damage. Any empathy outsiders might have had is going to be quickly forgotten. Look at the unforgivable things happening. Anyone who supports these riots is a sociopath.
Howe is leading the interviewer more than she is leading him.
With regard to the indie labels... Even if they are insured, this will still be a huge expense. Sickening.
Hold on, read the article. He has a point. He lists the positives that come with Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes. He calls Helplessness Blues his favorite album of the year. The article is more of a puff piece than anything, and it is written that way. It isn't criticism in the true sense of the word.
The comments, on the other hand, scare me.
All that said, there is plenty of amazing rock and roll out there. Mogwai continues to slay, and he conveniently left out My Morning Jacket.
I was a little confused when I first heard the last track, but it has grown on me. I streamed it a few times over last night at the office and it grew on me. This is a beautiful album.
Did the guy who filmed this get his ass kicked afterward? Honestly, I was expecting much worse. Except for their ridiculous costumes, these guys were just high and having fun. Film guy is just mad b/c he looks like J Mascis.
"This makes 20 years of Lollapalooza"
Wow that makes me feel ancient. I remember my friend's older brother taking a group of us to the 1993 shows. I was front row for Tool until I got nailed in the back of the head and decided to step out of the pit. Dinosaur Jr. was the highlight of '93 in my opinion. I think I was 12 or 13 that year.
So great. I am by no means asking this to point out any shortcoming, but didn't Robin start standing on the last tour? Is he back to sitting? Either way they freaking crank, I was just curious.
Are you kidding me? Holy crap... and I am not a fanboy. I am freaking 32 years old and I don't think I have even commented on this site more than 2 or 3 times. This is incredible. I just thought it needed it be said. These guys are other worldly.
Not trying to argue, but I think her boyfriend is the one who cuts his hair after being interrogated (and then beats up the guy). Not sure why though. It appears he confronts her at the party. Not sure hoe the guy is at the party and then at work though...
Okay, okay. Maybe I am dense... Please help me out:
1. What is in the paper bag?
2. Did he cheat with his friend's girl?
3. What is with the militarized Austin?
I would agree with you cbishop. If anything, their earlier stuff was more reminiscent of Country. I guess we can argue that all we want, but when it comes down to it, they are now a Jam Band. I have been to MMJ shows for years, and this tour definitely has a new crowd.
Hell, I saw them in 2007 and it was mostly indie rock kids. This summer I might as well have been at a frat party. The parking lot was even like a Phish show.
I still like them, I don't really care. It is just interesting.
On a completely unrelated note: This discussion is a good reason why I would never get a band tattoo. You just never know what will happen. I remember when a punk girl in my high school got a Cranberries tattoo (when they were still an underground Limerick band). I guess this was early nineties. By the time we had graduated they were considered adult contemporary/easy listening.
