Matthew Houck, aka Phosphorescent, is not afraid to tackle someone else’s song. We’ve seen him do a version of Nick Cave’s “Right Now I’m A-Roaming” as well as offering a take on Weeds’ “Little Boxes.” Here he digs into a different realm, giving the Righteous Brothers’ “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’” a spin. With all the hoots and chuckles, though, it’s actually more a cover of Tom Cruise’s hammy Top Gun pickup line than the smoother, sadder original.

When people aren’t laughing, it manages to be kinda affecting. When people are laughing, it manages to be kinda annoying. See that, all sorts of emotions on this one.

Actually, if you’re going to get picky about crediting the original, Malvina Reynolds wrote “Little Boxes”

This guy’s entire catalog is one giant Will Oldham cover. He fucking sucks.
