When writing up Crystal Stilts earlier today, I mentioned label/city-mates caUSE Co-MOTION!, a quartet with a snotty, upbeat approach to stripped-down classic-seeming noise pop. Over the past three years they’ve released singles on various labels — What’s Yr Rupture?, Cape Shok, Can’t Cope, Slumberland. They’ve collected these brief jangle anthems on It’s Time, a recommended 14-track, 21-minute compilation coming out on Slumberland at the end of the month. You might hear some early Pastels, 14 Iced Bears, Comet Gain or less twee Crayon/way more twee Some Velvet Sidewalk in their sloppy, hyper, reverb-soaked sound. Maybe think of them as a male counterpoint to the Vivian Girls’ updated K-punk/C86.
