When Suckers released their stomping, modestly Mouse-ing Wild Smile promo cut “Black Sheep,” we had a chance to detail a few of their forthcoming LP’s many finer points. It’s a great album, which deserves a great cover, and that primate whose face ostensibly is grinning and certainly is as colorful as any Quinn Walker photo ever taken fits the bill. Today the band’s made the record available for pre-order, and those taking advantage will immediately receive downloads of two acoustic takes on Wild Smile tracks: the aforementioned “Black Sheep”‘s cascading guitars get subbed for harmonica and glockenspiel, and “Martha”‘s makeover’s still as horny, just with less keys.

The album cover is the Baboon or Mandrill standard test image used in many Digital Image Processing courses, and to test algorithms in the field.
He’s been grinning for years, and the vivid colors are why this image is such a popular one to run tests on.
