Dirty Projectors Cover Bob Dylan For Levi's

As part of Levi’s Pioneer Series — which also welcomed Nas (covering Slick Rick) and She & Him (handling Rick Nelson) — Dirty Projectors did a loose, spacious, vocally rich take on Dylan’s “I Dreamed I Saw St. Augustine,” a spare folk track from 1967′s John Wesley Harding. It’s not the first time they covered Bob … Or even this song. It’s also not the first time Longstreth & Co. have given a go at re-contextualizing an icon (see, for starters, Black Flag, Björk). So, yeah, our headline is sorta misleading — this feels like it belongs to a continuum, rather than a specific jean company. Hear the completed track at Levi’s (via Vulture). If you’re into process, watch them put things together right here:

Catch them live. Great that they’re doing some shows with Dominique Young Unique.

  5. Another great song that was recently featured in a commercial is “You Always Make Me Smile” by singer/songwriter Kyle Andrews. Download a remix of the song for free: http://www.redmusic.com/smile/
