“You Are Not Alone” is the title track from gospel/soul singer Mavis Staple’s forthcoming Jeff Tweedy-produced collection, the followup to 2007′s Ry Cooder-produced We’ll Never Turn Back. The new album includes Mavis doing gospal standards along with interpretations of Pops Staples, Randy Newman, Allen Toussaint, John Fogerty, Rev. Gary Davis and Little Milton. Tweedy also wrote a couple of songs, including this one, which works as an inspirational pick-me-up for folks tired of dealing with the heat. You can stream it at P4K.

You Are Not Alone‘s out 9/14 via Anti-. Outside of producing/writing, Tweedy adds guitar, bass, and vocals. Wilco’s Patrick Sansone does keys and vibes. There are a number of other guests.
