So far we’ve heard “Lights” and “Barricade” from Interpol’s upcoming self-titled fourth collection. The guys stay mopey and mid-tempo on “Memory Serves.” (Thanks for the tip, Kunal).

Interpol is out in 9/7 via Matador.

sounds like its from the awful sounding leak that’s going around.
All of these leaked songs are glaringly absent of hooks. “Not every song needs to have a hook, you dumbass!” Well, then at least make the melody interesting.
Kinda ironic then that the song leaked at a blog called “the hook?”
I thought the album came out 9/7? I just got an email from their newsletter yesterday saying so.
You are correct. Carried over an older release date from an earlier post. Fixed!
I refuse to listen to this low-quality song. My ears tend to get cranky after a minute or so.
I like it. Also, to the commentors talking about hooks… are you the same people who whine about homogenous music that follow to closely to one format? For shame.
*too (ugh).
These are cakes are different enough that I’m confident in my ability to both have and eat.
Low quality and all I still like it more than the other two.
I can’t WAIT for a quality leak. Success is an amazing song and so is this one. Barricade is an awesome single too.
I kept waiting for the chorus to hit. But the chorus is just the verse with a bit of uninspired verb’d harmony and synth noise.. and no change in melody. Also, it seems like drummers these days just refuse to settle into a straight backbeat groove. They have to add syncopation, which in this song, detracts imo. The song gets more interesting towards the end but that doesn’t save it. Could be a solid track if they had a big hook in the chorus.
I know it’s not a good quality leak, but so far I’ve liked it… You either love or hate the Interpol, there’s no middle point about them. There are some songs on OLTA that I just can’t stand, just skip them… We’ll have to wait for the full “picture”… Maybe it will take some time for it to grow on every single individual of the audience, but I do hope it’s worth the wait… Lights is a very good song, some sort of complexity that’s very Interpolesque… However I feel it will be a better album than OLTA… But nowhere near Bright Lights…
