Robert Plant revived Band Of Joy, the name of his pre-Zeppelin cover band. He’ll release an album, also titled Band Of Joy, on Sept. 14. Among the Los Lobos and Richard Thompson covers are two covers of Low songs: “Silver Rider” and “Monkey,” both from their 2005 album The Great Destroyer. Both are low-key, whispered duets that sound more like Plant getting into the spirit of the originals rather than changing them to fit his voice. Listen to both (as well as the entirely album) streaming at NPR. Below, check out a video for their cover of Los Lobos’s “Angel Dance.”

Band Of Joy is out 9/14 via Rounder Records.
