The Flaming Lips And Neon Indian 12-inch

We saw pictures and videos of The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne collaborating with Neon Indian’s Alan Palomo. (There were also related Tweets about dropping acid.) The resulting 12-inch is already sold out — only 1000 copies of the EP were made, and they were sold in Dallas and Oklahoma City at one record store each. You probably won’t get a hold of the 12-inch, but you can hear the meandering lead track, “Is David Bowie Dying?” below. The answer to that question (besides “everyone is dying all the time”) is that Bowie’s enjoying retirement.

UPDATE: Here’s the rest (via oldwaver):

02 “Alan’s Theremin”

03 “You Don’t Respond”

04 “Do You Want New Wave or Do You Want the Truth Part II”

  1. I like this.

Collabs are on the come up.

First i’m blown away by Thom Yorke/Four Tet/Burial collab. Now this. Stereogum should like do a best collabs list.

  2. They played “Is David Bowie Dying” Live for the 1st Time in Detroit at the Filmore, it was amazing! (No Neon Indian appearance though)
