The album with the unbelievably poetic title (srsly) is introducing itself with, fittingly, “Introducing Palace Players.” Mew aren’t hiding the fact that they are Mew — androgynously porcelain vocally, stuttered up and syncopated in the undercurrent, lilting and dreamy overtop, weaving in and out of each layer all prog like. It’s not as epic sounding as their past epic moments, winding more than charging, but Mew fans should dig in plenty.

The first minute was pretty strange, but the rest of the track was fantastical.

Yeah, it’s kinda disorienting for the first minute or so – I was close to really not liking it – but then the song kicks in classic Mew-style. It’s gonna be a great record. Can’t wait to see them at P4K Fest.
