Cymbals Eat Guitars - Lenses Alien

At just under five minutes, “Definite Darkness” is a full 3:30 shorter than the expansive and muscular, shoegazy indie rock epic “Rifle Eyesight (Proper Name).” But just under five minutes is still plenty long, long enough that Cymbals Eat Guitars veer through myriad ideas, vocal and guitar layers, transitions. It’s the second promo MP3 in advance of the NJ/NY (though presently sort-of-Philadelphia-based) band’s ambitious second LP, the John Agnello-produced Lenses Alien, out 8/30 via Barsuk. 1. I’ve liked everything I’ve heard by this band so far. Incidentally, I’ve only heard two songs.

    • I highly recommend buying their first album. Twas my favorite of 2009. and as of 2 days ago, their new album is my favorite of 2011 thus far.

  2. Cymbals Eat Guitars may be fine musically but they crossed ethically the line when lifting my friend’s artwork without her permission for their new album. Artists shouldn’t do this to one another. You can read more about it here:

  3. this sounds great, but I don’t think I can look at this band the same since they succcccked live… also they are known to be jerks, so the aforementioned comment may be not surprisngly true.
