Nudge started out in Portland, but the group’s central player Brian Foote currently lives in Los Angeles, so his fuzzy extended psychedelic constructions are emerging from a sunnier place, even if they sound just as gray. As in the past, his main collaborators are Honey Owens, aka Valet, and Paul Dickow, aka Strategy. As we’ve mentioned, Owens also logs time with Jackie-O Motherfucker and she and Foote have been part of Atlas Sound’s live configuration. All of this should give you a hint of what you’ll find on Nudge’s fourth album, the seven-song As Good as Gone. It follows last year’s Padlock EP. Or forget about history and just take a listen to the collection’s slinky, smeary (and dare I say) sexy standout “Burns Blue.” There’s truth in titling here.
