Really? Not the pure data I used or the left-brain/right-brain case? Sorry you took offense to one word and discredited my argument over it. Guess you really are a chick after all!
Grimes makes some good music but she sure is a dummy. 1) RE: Less women producers... Could it be that women simply don't seek out producer roles? Or that the ones who do don't excel enough to stand out? Music production a highly technical field, the kind of thing that attracts MEN. Grimes and these other young self-proclaimed "feminists" today operate like there's some giant conspiracy against women, minorities, trannies, etc., to keep them out of white male-dominated fields, but could it simply be that the candidates who apply aren't qualified enough in their skillsets or merely don't apply in mass numbers? 2) Thinking a rock light show has a significantly detrimental effect on the environment is laughable. The annual rate of U.S. carbon emissions measured in metric tons for ALL fireworks shows is about 60,000. The entire world emits about 37 billion annually (in the last decade or so.)
I love cultural appropriation because I love freedom of expression.
Another ignorant idiot who thinks his "right to free speech" is being hindered by a private magazine who are censoring their own publication as they see fit. If he's so concerned about expressing his views then maybe he should stick to his Tumblr blog.
Bet she plays the race card by night's end.
This list sucks. He's a better one: 1. Comes As You Are 2. Heart Shaped Box 3. About A Girl 4. Smells Like Teen Spirit 5. All Apologies 6. Breed 7. On A Plain 8. Aneurysm 9. Rape Me 10. Dumb
Yeah that was the part I rolled my eyes at the most. Sorry, I love all these songs too but Negative Creep and Sliver aren't better than Teen Spirit. That song is perfectly structured.
This album is AWESOME. I still like AOM a little bit more, but I can't stop listening to this one lately.
Please, once Seth Rogen made that homophobic, anti-Coldplay joke in The 40-Year Virgin it opened up a flood gate of memes and lame running jokes from every opinionated slacker who didn't want to be the outcast at the group-think hate party. I have even witnessed it firsthand myself, watching peers of mine suddenly change their minds almost overnight. Gone were the Parachutes and Rush of Blood CDs from the basement CD player that we used to smoke to, banished forever to the box of "Mom's CDs" in the garage.
I've always found Coldplay hate to be childish and irrational. It's a shame people can't think for themselves and enjoy simple things without letting backlash trends influence their opinions.
They're not a real band... They're a group of protesters.
Agreed only for Idiot Wind and You're A Big Girl Now. The band versions of Tangled Up In Blue and If You See Her Say Hello are far superior, I think, especially the former.
Remind me again why this site covers mainstream rap and pop? Isn't that for Rolling Stone to do?
Not a terrible list, though I'd place Let It Be higher. Actually, I'd rate Let It Be Naked up there in the top 5.
There is a difference between 24 bit and 16 bit lossless for sure. Bass is rounder and fuller, the sound spectrum is wider and highs 'sparkle' more, especially on cymbals. But the difference between a lossless 16 bit 44.1 file and a high-end mp3 (256kbps +) is negligible. Anybody who says they notice a difference between these two formats is likely hearing what they want to hear.
Actually, he's right and you're wrong. I've recorded my rock music in several studios and the producers have always stuck to 24 bit depth. Whether they use 192, 96 or 48 sample rate is their preference, but recording in 16 bit is very limiting in the long run and most producers would scoff at that suggestion.
So basically one egomaniac is parodying another.
You guys take your opinions way too seriously.
If you can't download it then it's pointless having these monthly mixes anymore.
From best to worst: Ok Computer The Bends Kid A In Rainbows Amnesiac Hail to the thief Pablo Honey King of Limbs
Coldplay's first four albums are better than Hail to the Thief.
I guess I'm the odd one out but I don't see what all the fuss is about. Kind of sounds like a dinosaur trying to relive his glory days of music-making. The growled, doubled "Came back haunted" in the chorus borders on satire.
This has been the worst year for music I can remember in awhile.
Every single song off the bootleg version of Extraordinary Machine is Fiona's best.
omg it turned 19 last year and 18 the year before!
What a terrible idea. I don't have time in my busy day for Spotify bullshit. I'm afraid this site is looking useless to me now, guess I'll have to go back to Pitchfork and other blogs.
Sounds like Ringo DeathStarr.
Yes, I must be racist because I don't recognize rap as legitimate music/art. Every disagreement in the world is because of somebody's skin color. Grow up.
Dunno why all this rap shit is in here. I'm guessing you guys listen to half of one song and then go, "We have to include this shit so we don't get pigeonholed as a rock-only site."
Unfair for people who are smart enough to stay off Facebook. Sgt. Pepper forever.
I prefer mine: 1. Ok Computer 2. The Bends 3. Kid A 4. In Rainbows 5. Amnesiac 6. The King Of Limbs 7. Hail To The Thief 8. Pablo Honey
Can we seriously stop celebrating the useless anniversary of every album every week? What a waste of time.
It would be funny if all of the interpretations turn out awfully wrong and it forces Beck to end up recording it on his own.
