What a fantastic interview. As a huge Tori fan, I could say that Boys for Pele is my all time favorite album of hers. It resonates within me today as it did back then. That album is full of outstanding gems but my favorite tracks are Doughnut Song, Putting the Damage On, Horses, Not the Red Baron and Father Lucifer. Actually, there isn't a bad song on this album.
As someone myself who suffers from depression and anxiety, I completely understand and feel his pain. I applaud Cudi for being proactive against his fragile mental health.
Kid Cudi: I know you will never read this but I hope you know that you are not alone in this world. It may seem bleak at times, where all hope has been washed away. However, that is far from the truth. Rely on the ones who truly love and support you. Believe in yourself to find your way out of the darkness. YOU ARE WORTH IT. It will get better. I promise.
I was on the cusp of 15 when this came out and Soundgarden was my absolute favorite band back in the day. I was absolutely crushed when they broke up, thinking that the world had ended. I think that Down on the Upside is one of Soundgarden's finer albums and while Boot Camp is a fantastic song, my favorite song off the album is Zero Chance.
Side note: I would dare say that Chris has the finest voice living but a close second to Jeff Buckley. I'm so glad that they were great admirers of each other.
