I've found the record holds my attention a bit more throughout than S/T and Coexist, but that's not a knock on those records. I love the way this record incorporates more of the newfangled Jamie XX production into the "classic" XX sound and keeps you moving up and down (in a good way) . I suppose the knock might be that I See You has a little bit less cohesion than the other two, but I think it works.
**COUNTRY MUSIC OPINION**
Eric Church will clearly walk away with Best Country Album, but Miranda Lambert's album was just as ass-kickin'. My biggest gripe is that they failed to nominate Sturgill Simpson, who has done more for country music this year than anyone else.
I saw Radio 4 play in front of like 10 people in Brighton (MA) circa 2007 and man they killed it. Not only that, but they were approachable and invited everyone out for drinks after the show. It was one of the best nights of my life and I'm so glad to see them included on this list.
When I visited the cloud this weekend and listened to Salad Days for the millionth time, I had one of those isolated-instrument experiences and got lost in the bass lines on the record for a good 20 minutes...especially in "Blue Boy." The dude can write a groove.
