I’m not sure how many Mortal Kombat movies exist currently, I think it must be somewhere in the low twenties, but, uh, get ready for another one! From Deadline:
New Line Cinema is bringing back Mortal Kombat, setting up a live-action reboot of the martial arts-heavy franchise that will be written by Oren Uziel and directed by Kevin Tancharoen. … Both of those guys have earned the work, since it was their unauthorized viral short that breathed life into a dormant franchise.
So, to explain quickly, these people made an unofficial Mortal Kombat short film, which led to an official Mortal Kombat web series, which has now led to an official movie deal. Good job, these guys! Kind of! I mean it’s not like they’re nobodies, Tancharoen directed Fame and the Glee 3D movie, but I guess if you’re someone directing Glee movies and what you want to be directing is the millionth Mortal Kombat movie, you just have to go out there and take it. Congrats. I think. I don’t know why you want to do this? But we all want what we want, and what I want now is to help them figure out a tagline:
- Mortal Kombat: Remember?
- Mortal Kombat: It Was A Video Game
- Mortal Kombat: It Might Rile You Up Too Much, Ask Your Father
- Mortal Kombat: Finish Him. “Him” Meaning This Movie. Finish This Movie.
- Mortal Kombat: Sub Zeroooooo
- Mortal Kombat: You’re Just Pressing Buttons!!!!!!!!
- Mortal Kombat: “FATALITY” – Mortal Kombat, 1996
There’s really nothing better than the feeling of knowing you’ve helped out Oren Uziel and Kevin Tancharoen with their Mortal Kombat movie dream project. Never give up on your dreams, that is the thing to take away from this. Especially if your dreams are either creating a Mortal Kombat movie or creating a very good tagline for that Mortal Kombat movie.
