R.I.P. The Paul Reiser Show

After airing just two episodes, NBC has canceled The Paul Reiser Show. From the Hollywood Reporter:

The comedy premiered to 3.3 million viewers and a 1.1 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic, ranking as the network’s lowest-rated in-season comedy bow ever. Its second episode didn’t fare any better, collecting 2.5 million viewers and a 0.9 in the demo.

I don’t know what any of that means! What I do know is that the world is often a confusing and scary place, and it can really feel sometimes like it was systematically designed to destroy you, and yet every once in awhile, a decision is made in the opposite direction, as if the universe itself decided that enough was enough, and it was time to remind us all that there is logic and rationality and even hope to this fucked up marble spinning endlessly in the void. Perhaps there will come a day shortly before human beings achieve the final stage of our evolution into PURE ENERGY when there won’t even BE a Paul Reiser Show in the first place, but until we can breed “human fallacy” out of our systems, perhaps it is enough–it has to be enough–that The Paul Reiser Show is canceled after two episodes. Of course, our thoughts and prayers are with Paul Reiser’s son’s private school application during this difficult time. Also, please follow Andy Daly on Twitter. He is the best.

R.I.P. The Paul Reiser Show. You are in TV heaven now, enraging the TV angels who don’t understand why you exist, or why anyone would think a TV show about a bored millionaire with zero self-awareness would be a good idea.
