quick note…i generally try not to put anything too long or too heavy on the weekend playlists. i know there are only a few enlightened members of this crew, so i try to walk the line. but today i went with an epic, 15 minute, doomy skull crusher ‘the ashes make her beautiful’ by graves at sea. i understand that a lot of you think metal is silly or scary or dumb or whatever, but i’d love it if for a minute (or 15…), you could forget about all that and pretend you’ve never heard it before. grab your best headphones, crank the volume, smoke some weed (if you’re so inclined) and appreciate this track for what it is….a few dudes pouring absolutely every ounce of themselves onto tape. if you pay attention, you’ll hear traces of beauty buried in the ugliness.

i quit my job today because i need to get the hell out of boston. i don’t know where i’ll be working in nyc, but i do know i’ll be living there again before the summer’s over. all day long i’ve felt sad and angry, but exhilarated, and this song captures those feelings like nothing i’ve heard in a very long time. i may be steering you into the abyss, but i’d never steer you wrong.

Traditional 6 packs, 12 packs, 24 can cases have given way to 18 packs, 30 packs, etc. The standard bottle now comes in a multitude of shapes and sizes. The one thing they DON’T do is change the shitty product that is actually contained therein. It’s all market trickery to confuse the consumer and nothing more. All of these newfangled (yup, newfangled) music release strategies are the same thing. Just marketing BS. I’ve purchased so many potato peelers in my life. But the simple piece of shit I used when in the Navy, you know the one, remains the simple and best model.
