Former Slint guitarist David Pajo announced a forthcoming Papa M album called Highway Songs and shared its first single “Walking On Coronado” at the end of August. With the album now quickly approaching, Pajo shares the followup “Bloom” along with a matching set of visuals. The wordless song is an onslaught of menacing, rhythmic bass power cords balanced with complex electric guitar chords for a layer of crunch and texture. As for the Kansas Bowling-directed video, extreme closeup shots of beautiful plants in color and a tattooed man in a wheelchair in black-and-white are sequenced and repeated mirroring the balance of the darkness of the bass and the bright intricacy of the guitar.
